Some pre - dirties observations for you lucky boys and girls to salivate over
before 1 pm Saturday comes. Saw this juicy nugget on the comments page of the Derby Telegraph. Hallucinate and discuss!
“There are 28 players in the first team squad, Clough signed every single one of them or brought them up through the ranks. Starved of money, not given enough time? I don't think so.
Twebty eight players and not a ball winning midfield player who can protect the back four away from Pride Park, the necessity to play a right back at left back in place of Roberts. Are these things the fault of the owners?
Over the last four years we have had wide players coming out of our ears but we have never signed a player with physical strength in the tackle, is that part of a coherent management plan?
Have Palace spent money than Derby? Have Millwall spent money? Did Norwich and Blackpool spend more than Clough when they got promoted? Did Rickie Lambert, Charlie Austin or Grant Holt cost more than Connor Sammon? Did Charlie Adam or Tom Ince cost the earth, did Wifried Zaha or Glenn Murray cost anything at all? Did we get as much out of DJ Campbell as Blackpool did? Definitely not. Have we brought in strikers on loan then stuck them on the wing? Yes.
Please don't tell me that the manager has not had enough money to improve on a mid table position, please don't tell me that we are doomed to mediocrity because the owners are frugal. Maybe we should have used the money at our disposal to better effect, maybe we should be using young players like Freeman instead of making do with an out of position left back. Maybe we need to start with a sensible formation away from home, perhaps its time to give the likes of Tyson an opportunity instead of paying him ten grand a week to warm the bench.
Starved of money? No. Not used the money he has been given as well as some of his counterparts? Definitely."

Didn't rate the post on DET & spent time drafting a lengthy response & then thought 'why bother?', only to found the damn thing on here.
Some fans can use facts to suit their own point of view. Whilst this guy makes some valid points, he doesn't examine the exact nature of this '28 man' squad, with man being the operative word as half of them are kids or young players. Bryson is probably the closest we have to a ball winner/someone who closes opposition players down but he's been injured more this season.
Why are we being compared to Millwall? Jackett's under no pressure there except to keep them up. The expectation levels at Derby are not matched by investment, full stop. You mean to tell me that Clough would have Robinson & Buxton as mainstays of his team rather than big money signings? The guy who made this post also needs to check his facts. Palace paid £600k for Dikgacoi, Burnley signed Austin when they had Rodriguez up front and used him mostly from the bench for the first six months & Zaha did not emerge out of nowhere, he was a product of Palace's Academy as Will Hughes is from ours.
Lambert, Holt? What point is he trying to make? Forest had Holt in L1 and let him go. We tried to sign Murray but he went to Palace. Is that the fault of the manager?
I accept Sammon divides opinion but I haven't seen anybody mention who we could have bought for £1m that could hit the ground running and be a regular scorer - right from the off. Strikers cost. I can't think of anybody we could source at £1m.
Sure, Clough signed £2.5m+ of players this summer, but he also sold Shackell, Davies & Maguire.
There are plenty of teams who have had more money and disappointed just as others have outperformed us but the table doesn't lie. The top half of the Championship is mostly made up of sides who have backing or have been in the PL & it is those with bigger squads who finish higher.

Ray, I have been out of the country for the last 13 years and am slowly finding my feet here back in England. Grew in Nottingham and saved up all my paper round money to go and watch The Rams play at the Baseball Ground as a junior ram season ticket holder. Was stood in the Ossie end gripping on to the blue metal handrails watching Charlie George score a hat-trick against Real Madrid in 1975. Just to give you a smidgen of background info. Thanks for your response mate.

Nothing to do with me duck.
I've been busy in a new job.
Besides, got bored of being accused of only showing up when Derby lose! Which we did last week, so stayed away.
