just wondering if anyone else is doing what i am doing for huddersfield on sat and going on the train and stopping off on the way and on the way back at the various station pubs?there are 8 stops in all stalybridge, greenfield, marsden, slaithwaite(pronounced sloughit by locals),huddersfield, mirfield, dewsbury and batley.6 off us did the ale trail in on the saturday in october when the internationals were on and its a really good day.plenty of stag parties go on it.was impressed by the quaint station bar in stalybridge, had a good scram in the railway in marsden which is a marstons pub.less impressed by dewsbury and huddersfield and even found ourselves off the trail in ravensthorpe.the only problem is you have to have careful planning to make all the stops with trains only every half hour or so.counting back we had 14/15 pints on the day.this saturday planning a diluted version of what we did in october and calling in on the pubs on the way back from huddersfield so hopefully another good day.

Sounds like a bit too much effort that, benny. I like the pub across the road from Greenfield though. Usually have a few there on Whit Friday before heading over to Delph or Diggle for the brass band contest.

The pub in Dewsbury is not as good as it used to be! Seems to be happy to take the train loads coming in now every Sat without much effort! If you have an hour or so in Dews next time then try The Leggers Inn! A £2.50 taxi ride from station and so much better!
