"I think that Mikel has got off lightly. He should have approached Clattenburg, told him what had been claimed and asked for his version. I am sure that the matter would have been cleared up quickly without all of this hassle. Irrespective of what he had been told by a team mate, he should not have steamed in threatening a referee. A three game ban is very lenient in my opinion. "

I agree, if that's what happened.

"Clattenburg didnt get a ban. He got paid leave. "

And the difference is? Players still get paid when they are banned so "paid leave" is the same as a "suspension" which is basically a ban, is it not?

Call it what you like, Clattenberg was banned.

players dont get paid thier full wage when they are banned you numpty. They get fined by the club and FA.

I am pretty sure players do get paid when banned. That would come down to their contracts. The FA don't fine them as a matter of course. The club has discretion to fine a portion of wages (agreed with the PFA) and they obviouslt forfeit any match fee but they will still be paid their huge basic.

Players' fines never amount to or exceed what they earn during their ban.

E.g. was Suarez fined the equivalent in weeks' wages when he recevied an 8 match ban? no chance.

Also, the VAST majority of player bans are due to simple red or double yellow offences which don't necessarily carry any fine whatsoever - i.e. they still earn their full wages during the ban.

Yeah player are definitely fined when banned, and for getting cards, being late for training ect

yeah Busby but not proportionate with the ban.
If Rooney got a 3 week ban would he be fined 750,000 ?
not a chance.

It should be wages not paid whilst a player is banned don't you think Siempre?
