Thought this was worth its own article.
Aside from his autobiographies etc, I think graham swann is a fantastic cricketer, who should pretty much always play.
Penesar has reminded us this series though what a potent weapon he is where there's some turn in the pitch.
The last time I remember England regularly playing 2 spinners (ie away from the subcontinent) was the 80s when Emburey and Edomands would often both play.
Could Swann and Panesar become the new "spin twins" ?
Personally, I think that it would be a very positive step, and fitness permitting, England could establish themselves as nr 1 again with the following side :
Cook
Trott
Bell
Pietersen
Bairstow
Prior
Swann
Tremlett/Bresnan/Broad
Anderson
Finn
Panesar
Can England play 2 spinners away from s-c?

Yuuto, I completely agree. Stokes is the one we should focus on. His bowling has come on.
Issue with Woakes is he lacks pace, which the selectors love. Batting is excellent but only tested at 7 and not the top 6. Still, they are the best all rounders in the CC and aged 21 and 23.

I was sure i'd replied to that
my connection must have gone down or something.
Anyway, my point was that I dont think england need a bowler who can bat at 6, they would need a bowler who can bat at 7.
Matt Prior is comfortably good enough to bat at 6, and would be in most test team's top 5 no problem.

Unless its going to be a dry sunny test in England and its predicted by the weather forecasters.. theres no point in playing 2 spinners.. one of them wont get more than 10 overs..

WOW!!!!....englandwhoelse. You must be good mate, usually a captain waits until the morning of the 1st days play to decide which bowling attack would suit the conditions and surface..........you have decided 6-7 months out your bowling attack...

Seeing as you are dwelling into the past some-what, why don't you go as far back as 25 years and show us the facts england------....

Just don't make yourself scarce next July my friend....win, lose or draw the banter is always good, it's a shame only a hand full stick around when a loss comes their way though... fickle...
