Too many Chiefs, not enough Indians!

Much has been made of the individualistic nature of the India side. This can lead to selfishness and an I'm alright Jack mentality. No-one can bad mouth a bowler at the crease being genuinely beaten but Singh gave his wicket away, again. Didn't much fancy being peppered. India need fighters, not icons. This 'we are the supermen batters' might work against Windies or Sri Lanka but against England these days you need to fight and fight more.

Singh knows he's not going to be dropped and he doesn't feel he has to risk a bruise.

A case of too many Chiefs, not enough Indians!

Yes, they are World Champions, we know...

WE KNOW.

It comes to something when the supposed number one ranked team in the world has to rely on a single bowler to get all their wickets.

'If Anderson went off first day the England would have struggled. It isn't rocket science...'

Greatteamwinit4times, Tremlett was struggling....!

Lazy is right in that you can't base your entire attack on one bowler. Yes, IF Zaheer had been fit then possibly Prior and Broad would not have scored as many in the second innings as they did.But the fact is that Zaheer WASN'T fit!
Point being, India did what England did which is to go in with four Main bowlers. If we had lost Anderson we could have lost the test match. Its a chance you take! But, AS STATED, you can't base your entire match strategy on one player. You make do with what you have...

At Cardiff Anderson was injured and Broad and Tremlett stepped up to get the win against SL so it can be done if your attack is strong enough.

A fit Zaheer together with Ishant bowling well is a pretty good attack. I'm not sure Kumar will cause much trouble unless it swings.

'My point is that the author is criticising an India team and I'm saying that they lost their best bowler, it isn't really a time to judge their performance...'

I think actually the original author was suggesting that the indian team didn't put up a fight? I guess i would agree with that - I thought they pretty much surrendered on the last day.

Zaheer was overweight and out of condition, which is why he got injured. It wasn't an accident as with Gambhir.
To play International cricket these days fitness is a prerequisite.
He hardly bowled in the warm up at Somerset so was totally unprepared for the rigours of test cricket.
