At the minute we are so short on forward talent that it's almost a given that without Suarez we will play Shelvey up front. Now I'm not too bothered by this except for the fact that I feel he would be much better utilised in his more natural position in the midfield.
I feel that if we are to move anyone out of their natural position to play up front it shouldn't be Shelvey, but in fact Steven Gerrard. One of the main reasons for this is because I feel his recent performances in the midfield haven't been up to scratch, I'm not saying he has been bad every game, just that he hasn't looked like the Gerrard of old. With Gerrard not doing too well there I feel Shelvey could do a better job on recent form. Other reasons to move Gerrard forward are, he is one of our best finishers in the team, he can have decent movement, he has a decent head on him and he can be quick in short bursts. I just feel that with his experience Gerrard would be the better option to lead our attacks and let the younger, more mobile players control the midfield.
So my team for today, going by this would be:
..........................Reina
Johnson........Skrtel........Agger.........Enrique
............................Lucas
......................Allen..........Shelvey
Downing.........................................Sterling
...........................Gerrard
Maybe switch Enrique and Downing around but that would be my starting 11.
Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? Do you have any other preferences as to who should play when Suarez is unavailable?
Lack of strikers.

He was a very lazy footballer at City. Like Berbatov but without the abilities.

I was making a point! Surely even you can't deny how poor he was at City?! No doubt he's improved, but I still don't reckon the Premiership is his league.

Giorgious has been immense.
Sadly he will never set the heather alight when it comes to goal scoring charts, but his thrusting drives, his ability to break defences, his winning of vital free kicks and penalties, his massive heart, love of team membership and winning mentality and not forgetting his biblical good looks...Easy £10m player in EPL-land

How does his City record compare to current LFC strikers? 8 in 55 appearances?

It sounded like Dani Pacheco was in fine form for the U21 the other day again!
I don't know what he has done to pee someone off, I just don't understand why the likes of Cole and Downing get chance after chance and not this lad. He has never played in a strong 1st 11, he has unpredictability which I like. Maybe they are working on something with him at that level, but he always seems to have an impact in the U21 games.

Cob
Is he good enough?
Managers fear throwing in young players, especially young players that come through the ranks, or, young players they did not bring to the club.
If Pacheco is not getting 1st team game time, is that Rodgers fearfulness?

Yesil has just come back from an injury, don't think he is match fit.

We'll play like Spain. 4-6-0. It'll be fine, don't worry.

He scored a cracking goal for the U21s.
He might not be totally match fit but i'd gamble on starting him.
