Live Match Thread 4th Test India v England

Series score :

India 1 England 2

Series so far :

England slept for the first 2 and a half days of this series, while youngster Pujara took a firm grip on the game for India, as they moved into a position of complete domination in Ahmedebad. An Atherton and Russellesque stand between Alistair Cook and Prior on days 3 and 4 threatened to salvage a result, but day 5 went in India's favour, as the hosts wrapped up a comprehensive victory.

A Century from Pietersen and another Century from Cook, however, put England on top in Mumbai, and their spin twins of Swann and Panesar skittled the Indians in their second Innings, to give the English side a comprehensive victory. A similar result followed in Calcutta, as Cook was again in the runs - this time to record breaking effect - and England put in an almost faultless performance in the field in both innings whilst the Inidian batsmen frittered away their wickets.

Can England maintain their grip on the series going in to the crucial final game ? We will find out over the next few days

Congratulations to England and the fans. Cook and co achieved which has been enigma for all other teams. Brilliant at beating Indians at their own game.

For India, more pain to follow. They will struggle overseas for the next 3-5 years. Not easy to fill the void left by Dravid, Laxman and Tendulkar. IPL is also a catalyst. Too much money at the club level. Much like EPL and the national team.

Good win by England.. Just a side note.. I found Sehwags laughing through most of the days play shocking.. If he was playing for my team. He'd be out the door..

Yes Sehwag dropped a hatful of chances and was pretty average with the bat wasn't he? If i was him I'd be a bit more careful on what my body language was suggesting out there

Great effort by England today and ever since the first test, really satisfying seeing them come back from such a comprehensive loss and go on to dominate.

Most of the team have performed at some point but special mention to Monty, Swann, Jimmy, KP, Prior and Cook. All of them played really well and I can't argue with Cook being named man of the series although if Monty had been named in the first match he might have pushed him. the only disappointments for me were Broad and Bresnan who both struggled to make any kind of impact.

India are about to go through a major rebuild and i wish them luck, to have so many world class players leave the side through retirement or because they have totally lost form is hard. I don't know enough about Indian domestic cricket to know how long the rebuild will take but I can see that the IPL is not helping to bring on new test players, especially in the bowling department.

Fair play to every one on here for making it a fun series
