Our first visit to the new KC Stadium since New Years' Day in 2005, when Town lost 1-2.
Town have not managed a win at Hull City since we shaded a 5 goal thriller in October 1992 (20 years ago !).
This will be the 24th meeting between the teams in Hull, previous results reveal -
Pld 23 W 7 D 6 L 10 F 29 A 34
Recent form suggests little between the teams...the last 7 games show -
Hull City (home) Pld 7 W 3 D1 L3 F8 A 9 Pts 10
Town (away) .... Pld 7 W 3 D1 L3 F7 A12 Pts 10
However Hull City sit in 4th place with 38 points, 9 more than Town.
Home form has hindered the Tigers though, and the last 2 home games have resulted in 0-2 and 0-0 score lines.
Hull City are now owned by Egyptian refugee but self made multi millionaire Assem Allam. This guy is worth over £400m, and has revealed plans to invest £100m in a sports village at the KC. Like our own Dean Hoyle, Assam Allam is a genuine guy...his donations to local sports clubs, the University and many more groups and organisations are legendry. He gave Hull KR £1m to help them improve their stadium for example.
The appointment of ex Town boss Steve Bruce and the investment of funds has seen a strong and large squad at the KC Stadium.
The Tigers are looking for a return to the Premier League, where they spent seasons 2008/9 and 2009/10 under Phil Brown. In fact the rise of Hull City to the top flight from the bottom level of the football league took only 5 years.
Founded in 1904, previous managers include Brian Horton and Terry Dolan, and current Head scout is Stan Ternent.
The KC Stadium is the perfect sports arena, having all the corners filled and a perfect type of stadium which generates a great atmosphere .
The previous stadium at Boothferry Park was a sad and derelict stadium long before the move to the KC. What was once a proud and large capacity stadium, with it's own railway station alongside, went the way of many old stadiums which lacked the capacity to develop corporate hospitality etc.
One item worth a note, in 1984 Hull City and Sheffield Utd were tied dead level on points and on goal difference in the fight for promotion from the old Div3, with one game to go. Sheffield Utd won their game, but Hull City didn't play their last match until some days later, so knew a 3-0 win would secure promotion. Half the crowd were Sheffield Utd fans that day, mingling with Burnley supporters...Hull only won the game 2-0 though, so Utd went up on goals scored....
Team:

It seems leading goalscorer with 8 goals, Sone Aluko, may miss this game
through injury....although Simpson has 6 goals to his name so far.
As a stat attack, for those that like these things...Hull City have score over 80% of their goals (25) between the 23rd and 77th minutes (54 minutes). Just 3 goals have been scored before the 23rd minute and 3 goals after the 77th minute. They are most dangerous around the 30 minute mark...(take note Simon).

One of the worrying things was Jack Hunts' post match comments. Apart from saying Town were pretty dire in every department, and he did sound a bit brassed off, he said that Hull were playing within themselves and could have stepped up another level if they had needed to....but they didn't.

Stephen Quinn made Jack Hunt look like Peter Clarke today...That's why he was so depressed after the game....

hunt can get forward..thats why he is brassed off..
we have midfielders who simply cant run quick enough for long enough.. they have to back off...
maybe time to get dixon and woods in the full back slots and try hunt elsewhere, at least he could get up and down..

Pretty simple really, get rid of a certain centre back who had a big part in both the goals we conceded yesterday.

WAKEY..
i didnt like to say anything much..some think i have a vendetta against him..
straight after the wembley match we should have looked for two centre halves.. morrison possibly and another to play at this level..
we are playing against teams who trust their centre halves and then d-ck us by having their full backs wide and going forward whilst we have full backs who tuck in and dare not get over the halfway line..
we are playing teams who dont all rush back and hold hands with the back 4 and subsequently seem to defend better and break much easier and quicker than we do..
the problem is obvious and needs correcting very quickly..
the first goal yesterday made my actual heart sink, i could palpably bloody feel it...the second was the usual accident waiting to happen by backing off and being done leaving a simple easy finish.. my heart can take the end to end stuff and the really tight nervous games, it cant take watching us merely turn up and "being happy to be here", its not enough for me...

Trouble is, either Grayson can not see what we are seeing or what he sees he thinks is acceptable...either way it raises questions about his managerial abilities at this level.
We don't know what is said or what is going on behind the scenes though. It might be that as a reward for his previous 'efforts', PC has been told he can have one season in the Championship and then he can find himself a decent deal with another Division One club.
We keep being told Town have a list of targets..some work out, some don't and Morrison not materialising might have had an affect on the current situation. We did bring in Lynch and Gerrard, so it does seem CB is one of the areas SG has been looking at.
I think this season is all about staying here, and the way we started the season was more than any of us expected...now we've hit a slump and questions are being asked. Injuries and suspensions have had a factor in the disruption that's clear, but the team put out yesterday was just about our best eleven...so that's got me worried now

PC was out paced & muscled for both goals yesterday....
He was playing too wide right on both occassions, leaving not enough cover in the centre.....Hey presto...2 goals...
Gerard did well in the centre, where as Lynch played a simular role to PC on the left, and was about as useless, with Ward being of little use as his cover....
Tactics were all wrong, Larry was trying to copy Bruce's back 3, but we aren't set up for that.....
Back to the drawing board time, or why not simply go back to the team / formation that started the season so well....4~3~3...Shimplez..

nobody in a town shirt ever ends up where he isnt supposed to be...we never suprise anyone its all very routine ordinary attacking, albeit in very short spasmodic periods..
i watch opponents having their holding midfielder turn up in our box , either full back coming in at the back post etc etc..
we are too easy to play against..
whatever "formation" we end up playing its all very routine...
take ward out, put hammill in and let him go where he likes..
see if the opposition can grip a "floating" player, because we certainly cant..
