Stuart Tomlinson

What a pleasant suprise to here "Tommo" is well ahead of schedule in his rehabilatation from injury and could be back in January !!!!
He fills me with confidence and i'm sure he does that to the defenders who play in front of him. Lyness has done very well but Tomlinson will be welcome back between the sticks.

Yes, excellent news Terraceman. Lyness is an excellent 'keeper but experience is something he needs. All summed up in this quote from Rowett.

“The technical part of his game is probably the best at the club, and he just needs the experience to improve his awareness and match intelligence".

I thought Lyness did extremely well against Accrington. Some good saves and he took some difficult crosses in swirling wind.

I did used to like the way Tomlinson commanded the area. No matter where a cross was - he went for it. Invariably he would flatten 5 players to get to the ball and that's what you want from a 'keeper.

There is one criticism of Tomlinson, Atkins and Lyness which having Oxley on loan highlighted. It must be something he has been taught playing at a higher level. Oxley was always bowling the ball out intelligently to his defenders. It kept possession. A big punt upfield gets the ball up the pitch quickly but it is at best a 50/50 situation. Presumably Victor Valdes never does a goalies punt upfield for Barcelona.

Thank you Emnez, although my chemo therapy ended prematurely it has been successful and i have a future to look forward to !!!! I agree with you and Otep, like the comment about Valdes, mind you Barcelona are a little more technically gifted than the Albion but i take your point my friend.

If i can find employment i will be back on the terrace's. I'm hoping to be declared fit for work in the new year. Mind you finding work will be the biggest battle i've faced because i can't see any employer willing to take me on !!!
