January transfer window is fast approaching and the offloading of Beckford Danns Wellens and Gallagher from the wage bill is a must.
Whom ever we bring in are going to be young up and coming players who will be eager to get to the PL for their payday.
I would be surprised if we lose any key players unless a mega bid comes in for our highest performing players.
Anyone sad to see this quartet leave our club ?
NP & SW will bring in their tried and trusted young talented players and we will be a better club.

£3 million plus off the wage bill...

My Question is who's going to buy them. They will still be with us but loaned out so our wage bill will not be reduced that much. As no one can afford to pay the wages in full.

Beckford is obviously a case of good riddance, I have worked with people like him in a staff team and it only needs one person with an attitude problem to spoil the whole set-up. Danns we can manage without, but I will miss Wellens and Gally, they have been great servants of the club, particularly Wellens who has been a dominant force in midfield. Gally may well have his limitations but I've seen him score some super goals and he has done wonders from set pieces. He could be in his element in one of the better Div 1 sides.

Or we could sell him to Coventry

Well, Mick McCarthy was keen on getting Wellens. I doubt it would cost them much to get him full-time in January. I suspect there could be interest in Danns from this league as well, although again people would want him on the cheap because of his age. Gallagher needs to drop a league and wage demands to get regula football although it wouldn't surprise me if he did. The only one we might get some money for would be Beckford, although the fear there would be that he'd do a DJ Campbell - refuse to take a wage drop my moving and go out on loan somewhere.
If Beckford does go, there won't be a bidding war - only clubs who can afford high wages and those who can't. Anyone could and should get him for even as little as £1m, but he could easily still be a Leicester player by the time February rolls around simply because he won't walk away from the money.

Excellent post Filbert Nutt - completely agree there.

I'm not so sure its just down to money, im more convinced its down to the type of player we are now looking for because Nigel has proved its more sucessful. The owners would have budgeted to pay for those contracts in full and should we off load a few? then great! it goes into the pot for Nigel. Which is probably why he is so relaxed about transfers........

No wonder the OP goes by the name: "affordable" Fox.
The more I think about the Sven era then the more I get irritated by his wastefulness. Although he brought some good players to the club (Nugent, Schmeichel, Konchesky) his profligacy in the transfer market has left an unfortunate legacy. Some of his signings were obvious duffs whereas most we vastly overpaid for (Mills!).
Culle,
I respectfully have to disagree with you. I believe these players were recruited with a short term vision to get us to the Premier League. I don't think the owners whould have been anticipating such a high turnover; with associated agent's fees, loss of transfer revenue and high wages. We won't be able to compete with clubs with parachute payments in the future (FFP) and an unsustainable wage structure will only put the shackles on us further.
It's a good job that NP plays the transfer market very well and I truly believe that he doesn't just look at a player's worth, but a player's value. Some people will have been disappointed to see the likes of Mills, Peltier, Danns and Beckford leave, but it's enabled us to build a team that is competitive at the right end of the table.
