Round 22: Bolton vs Charlton

So after a disappointing defeat to Ipswich we got back to drawing ways last weekend, coming from behind to take, and then lose, the lead against Huddersfield.

Our in ability to defend a lead and close out games on a consistent basis is a real worry and desperately needs addressing. If we had managed to hold on to all the leads we have had in matches this season we'd be 21 points better off and top of the table! A frankly disturbing statistic.

To make things worse our injury curse has reared is ugly head again this week with the news that Sparky is out for 3 months after having surgery on a shoulder injury whilst Mills is out for around 6 weeks with a thigh strain that forced him off in the 85th minute last week.

On a positive note its nearly Christmas.

Our opponents this weekend are Charlton who sit 6 places and 3 points above us in 12th. Beat them this weekend and we could move up a few places. Chances are however that results around us will once again ensure that we stay exactly where we are.

Team News

Bolton will be without Mark Davies (shoulder) and Matt Mills (thigh) after they both picked up injuries.

David Wheater and Josh Vela (both knee) are out and midfielder Stuart Holden is still a couple of months away from a return to first-team action.

Defender Dan Seaborne (illness) is expected to return for Charlton after missing their draw against Brighton.

Meanwhile full-backs Cedric Evina (knee) and Rhoys Wiggins (metatarsal) are still unavailable.
