Dear NC & TG,
Hopefully you both sign in to this site on a regular basis to hear the views and share the feelings of the thousands of people who live , breathe and eat Derby County.
We are now just twelve days away from the start of the new season and I for one am becoming more than a little nervous at the state of our squad that has been assembled for a top ten finish.
I'm sure you both fully understand what football means to so many people in so many different places. Derby is a working class medium sized city with down to Earth, honest straightforward people who are slightly irked at the lack of investment that has been put into their football team in the close season.
Could you please provide some honest answers as to why we have to shell out most of our hard earned cash to follow something we love with little or no return from the people who are more than willing to accept our cash.
I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Kind Regards,
Vietram
Very Nervous

I think avoiding relegation must be top of non-league nigels agenda

IMO that will be GSE's aim for as long as they will be here. Anything else that comes out their mouths is just spin.
Derby wont go down but will be nowhere a top half finish

I think only time will tell how our new players perform, a good start could work wonders (the last gasp draw against QPR worked against us, I know one result shouldn't but we came out of the game as if we had lost) though I don't think we've got enough to cause the promotion contenders much concern.
I think we could have the basis of an effective side capable of giving anybody in the NPL a game, but the key question facing us in 2011/12 is whether we can be more consistent and that comes from carrying a regular threat up top and experience where it matters. I still think we're short in these departments.
I think we've got more 'useful' players who can make contributions than any outstanding performers (Commons). The squad has more of a 'team' look about it. I'd say Forest have more better individual players than us (in midfield).
I'm disappointed that injuries have hampered our pre-season, but nothing as bad as Steve Davies's knee injury last season. I also think S. Davies will have a good season injuries permitting.

CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE LOGIC OF YOUR ARGUMENT. JUST ESCAPING RELEGATION IS OF NO USE TO THE OWNERS IF THEY WANT TO TURN A PROFIT. TO DO SO THEY NEED TO GET TO THE PFL. THEREFORE TOM GLICK HAS TO DELIVER PROMOTION. RIGHTLY I THINK HE DECIDED THAT NIGEL COULD BUILD FROM THE FOUNDATIONS AS HE ID AR BURTON. TO HIS CREDIT TOM GLICK IS STICKING TO THE PLAN AND AT THE SAME TIME KEEPING THE CLUB FINANCIALLY SOUND. WE JUST HAVE TO GIVE HIM AND NIGEL TIME AND WHILST WE WAIT JUST ENJOY THE FOOTBALL AND GIVE NIGEL AND THE TEAM YOUR UNSTINTING SUPPORT.
WE HAD A SIDE LAST YEAR CAPABLE OF BEATING THE BEST IN THE DIVISION. MOTIVATION AND ORGANISATION AND INJURIES SEEMED TO BE THE PROBLEMS. EXCEPT FOR ENCOURAGEMENT, FANS CAN DO LITTLE ABOUT THOSE ISSUES. THAT'S NIGEL'S AND OTHERS JOB. BUT WHAT FANS CAN DO IS SUPPORT, ENCOURAGE AND SHOUT FOR THE TEAM.
THAT'S MOST LIKELY TO EARN PROMOTION AND SUCCESS FOR THE CLUB.

Whilst I do shout for the team when I go to matches if I have concerns I'm going to air them
Derby are currently way off a top half finish and are not likely to be troubling the top 16 teams in the near future.
That is what a base my opinion on that the board and manager are just content to stay in the division. GSE have no ambition to get promoted, the only was this will happen is if we fluke it again, how can you not see this??
Do you look at players what other champinship sides are signing?

Bush, what do you do to guarantee promotion then?
Ask Forest, Cardiff, Boro how they are approaching it - we should do the same surely?
Except, those clubs have struggled, despite being perennial favourites.
I would rather have a self sustained club. This way we don't risk turning into a Portsmouth.
The Pickering days are over. Move on.

Derby have spent a lot of money this summer so I can't understand any complaints against the board.
I think we're a top half club but not quite good enough for the play-offs.

We've spent around £2.5m but the squad was that dessimated we were certain for relegation without spending
Which particular signing makes you think we will be top half?
To me all are okish signings but none are proven

You can't guarantee promotion no matter who you buy, but I don't think we have bought players "as yet" to replace Hulse and Commons.
Like most Rams fans, not having seen, or even heard of some of the buys, I think it's too early to pass judgment or even anticipate a league position.
I still feel that a left back and a really big, good in the air striker, are a must before we consider whether fans will ask for their money back

In this league you have to MAKE your own proven striker because as soon as one striker like (morrison, graham) has one good season in the CC, their price overinflates and they get j(zzed over by a prem club. Who would have predicted that hotl, morrison, hraham would have better seasons than chopra, bellamy and earnshaw?

It's a fair point well made and I believe a fully fit Steve Davies could surprise people. He returned after a serious injury and played a part. If he can avoid injury, then he possesses ability as an attacker and hopefully he can finally realise it after three seasons at DCFC marred by injury.
I do think we could still do with a real threat up front and some of the names you mentioned were players bought from lower league clubs as regular scorers able to make the transition. We have even been priced out of buying raw talent & I thought we missed a trick not buying Brett Pitman last season as well as not bidding for Sharp at just over a million. Now he is worth twice that at least.
I still think our board is short-sighted. I'm pleased we've spent some money, but they sold Hulse/Common & have seen Savage off the wage bill & we needed to spend to just make the squad competitive. As a positive, I like to think the three good youngsters (Hendrick, O'Brien & Ball) could help save us money and supplement the players already here.
