How exactly does that equate to delusion?
Sky and the BBC have totally hijacked his words and twisted them into a way in which they imply that he believes Liverpool WILL finish second, when in reality he said the ambition was to grow stronger and he cited that relatively despite their criticism [which he alluded to earlier in the article] Liverpool are not doing as badly as some have stated.

I don't know why people think he means this season.
I think it's more about him saying we're 11 points off 2nd at this point in the season and if we keep improving how much closer will that gap be next season and the season after.
