Vidic's return to first team is great news of course and hopefully he'll tighten up those leaks at the back for us.
But I'm afraid we may have seen the best of the Ferdinand - Vidic partnership. Rio looks a step slower this season and seems to often get caught on the wrong side of the striker he's marking.
Smalling and Jones look pretty strong at the back and Evans seems to have finally developed some consistency.
I hope Fergie gives one of them a chance to develop a partnership with Vidic overtime instead of always changing the centerbacks - which we can agree does not help.
I love Rio. Great servant to the club and has helped us win countless trophies over the years - don't even get me started on how unfairly he's been treated by grandpa 'Woy and the Englan set-up.
But I really hope to see a different partnership emerge in our central defense involving Vidic and someone not name Ferdinand.
Time to bench Rio?

Tbh, Rio has lost his pace, but he's more than made up for it with his positioning. Vidic won't be match-fit for a few weeks yet & with the games coming thick'n fast we'll need Rio now more than ever!

Rio has been decent and don't forget Johnny, had a great season so far. Nobody is a certain starter at CB now.

Why would we drop our best defender for someone who's had too massive knee injuries and didnt look half the player e was before he got injured the second time.

Vidic comes back from a year long lay off so we drop Rio? No, no, no. If anyone has to fight for their place its Vidic.

The Rio bashing is really starting to annoy me. The guy has been our most consistent defender for the last 2 years and gets very little appreciation from our fans.
It's reassuring that this article is unanimously voted 1 star.

For why we play Rio every week just rewatch that bit in the City game where he got a toe onto a dangerous City ball into the area and put it out for a corner.

Rio's a star.... our best CB, in my eyes. His positioning is immense.
The minute you are 30 or over though, the ja606 groupmind wants you gone.
