**********XMAS DOUBLE POINTS BANANZA!!!**********
Well I don't really know what to say here.
A 5-4 defeat to Peterborough is not exactly the result I was hoping for from my first time actually getting to see the Wanderers live. I'll point out now that it isn't through choice that it was my first time. Its the best part of a 350 mile, over 6 hour round trip to the Reebok. With the price of tickets plus nearly £80 for a return on the train you're talking over £100 for 90 minutes of football. Fact is that its only in the last 6-9 months that I have been in the position financially for that to be something I can even consider. Anyway where was I......
Oh yeah, 5-4...... I don't think the phrase "Bad day at the office" quite covers it. If I was a neutral watching the game I'd have been in stitches for their first goal so bad was Knight's balls up! Now I don't like to just be unrelentingly critical and Knight did put in a couple of good blocks. However thats kind of his job at the end of the day and sadly the moments of complete stupidity like the one which lead to Posh's opener are a far too regular feature of his game.
But as football managers everywhere are so fond of saying, "we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and learn the lessons."
Least thats the theory. I'm not too sure some of our squad have learnt anything since the start of the season.
Anyway, disgruntled digs at the team aside boxing day brings our old mates Wednesday to the Reebok. The recent history between our too sets of fans on Old and JA-606 has been humourous to say the least and there should be a decent amount of banter to be had once again. The away fans will be hoping for a better result than in our last meeting where goals from Marcos Alonso and Sparky Davies gave Wanderers our first away win of the season. Most of us would probably just be hoping not to ship 5 again unless we score 6 or more!
Team News
Kevin Davies banned and the usual suspects out injured. Further news, hopefully including news of N'gog, when it becomes available.
Prediction
I can't see Dougie letting yesterday go unremarked and expect a reaction from the lads. 2-1 Wanderers, Eagles opener.
I'll be getting an updated League Table up for you all when I get in from work tomorrow.
In the mean time I wish everybody a very merry Christmas. Here's hoping Santa brings all the players a few cans each of ManTheHellUp!
