Why is the english press being arrogant and not acknowledging that the main reason they won this 1st test is because Zaheer Khan pulled out ? Or the fact that the Indian top order got jolted with a wounded Sachin and Gambhir ?
Instead if you read their articles they leave this bit as an afterthought. They think England won because of England's magnificence.Same goes for the fans.

Apart from beating demoralised Australia recently, England's overseas record in the past 5 years has been rather poor.
2009- drew series in SA. Two defeats were saved by England's #11 batsman.
2009- lost series in WI.
2008- lost series in India.
2007- lost series in SL.
2006- lost series in Aus 0-5.
England appears to be a well-settled and well-balanced team now and riding high on confidence, low on injuries, and without infighting. Furthermore, England is hard to beat at home.

hehe Mar, we are well award of our history mate. It's been quite a journey getting to where we are today. It's our time, and as you have already seen, whether we are a good side or not, we are better than everyone else, although I would love to have another go at South Africa, who as you say, murdered us in that series in 2009, despite the scoreline, and still play some great cricket.
As of know, we will walk to the top of the world. India are old, out of shape, out of form, cant bowl and are the worst opposition we have faced in the past 12 months.

Cook was struggling, Strauss wasn't consistent, KP was perceived as selfish, Prior wasn't test class, Bell could only score when at least two other batsmen have already scored centures, Broad was a no-good bowler who could occasionally bat, Swann was no Swann, there were Boparas and Shahs, Anderson was blow-hot-blow-cold, players like Mahmood got in, no Trott...
All that changed for the better.. is this for real?

Haha jog on indian and aussie fans - just because we start winning you have to find reasons why its not a proper victory he was injured, he was sick - who cares if it means england win i'd like to see 6 indians injured for the next test couldnt care less.
England have every right to enjoy victory just as other nations do when they win - its sport you enjoy the good and are disappointed by defeat it happens, and as for arrogant aussie and indian fans and media have no place to talk - as i said jog on

It was mentioned that Khan has had a 'hectic 4 months'. I thought he's only bowled 58 overs this year.
One player England have missed through injury over the recent years is Simon Jones. The best bowler we had when fit. Also Tresco would have been playing for a lot longer had he not had to deal with his illness.
Swings and roundabouts.
India were poor, and were properly beaten.
OP: Pint of Bitter? Or would you like some cheese to go with your whine?

That isn't the only reason England won. India won the toss in perfect bowling conditions, England dropped some easy catches to give India and chance and still won after declaring twice. As if one bowler would've changed that.
India were lucky in the first test, and still lost.

Excellent article.
You got my 5*
England fans and media will know now. And remember India is still without 3 of their top 11. The destructive sehwag is needed here.

Just got back home after a pretty tough day at work and was impressed with the competition we were getting today at Trent Bridge, but is that great start by India about to get away from them? These 2 boys have been good little allrounders for a couple of years now and both make big scores. I am guessing we make over 250 and then rattle the indians out. Yepp. I still go for a 2:0 lead

Probably the wrong thread to write this on, but goodbye and good riddance mister Morgan. I am a better test match batsman then you will ever be.
