Robin Van Persie

Sir Alex Ferguson defended his decision to leave Van Persie on the bench for today's match in the rain claiming...

"The boy could have drowned!"

Although unlikely in the situation, what Fergie said was true. A blow to the head like that can seriously damage sensitive neural tissue and it was a stupid thing to do. The respiratory centre is found in the medulla, just where he got kicked. If that failed, he would stop breathing.

I beg to differ Doc;

The ball made more of a contact with the cerrebellum part of the head. Which we ALL obviously now controls the spinal cord and sensory receptors to provide precise timing for coordinated, smooth movements of the skeletal muscular system.

A football kicked (stupidly) at the cerebellum may cause dizziness, nausea, balance and coordination problems but as yesterdays goal proved, no immediate or long term damage seems to be done.

As me mam always said .. "make sure you get a second opinion"!
