It seems that whether he's played in central/defensive midfield, wide-mid, or on the wing, people complain. The fact that he keeps getting shifted around probably hampers Ramires' performances as well, as he can't fully develop the skill-set or mode of thinking that's best suited to a particular position. So the question is, how should Ramires be used in the team? Should we stick him in a particular position (specify which one), or should we continue to use him as a squad/utility player? When DeBruyne comes in, and if Taison joins, the competition for places will only get tougher, so what's Ramires' role?

People make too much out of his passing ability

Fully agree with the idea of putting him in CM/DM, and giving him the freedom to roam. But as pointed out, much of the time, Benitez seems to trust Lamps, Mikel (probably), and natural CB Luiz more. It is kind of a suboptimal utilization of Ramirez not to deploy him in the center, but he's not as defensively strong as Luiz or Mikel - so maybe he's gotta improve his defensive skills to be a regular there.
"Sell Ramires or loan him to Real Madrid recall Essien"
Heard he's doing great there!

The actual thought of rami not in our team sends shudders through me
In my mind he is soooo important to us in the centre of our midfield.
He is our engine and provides so much more of an option than anyone else in our team

He has the touch of a baby elephant

With luiz now making that role in midfield I feel Ramirez has to step up. His long passing is weak

I think his best ability is bursting forward with the ball in the opposition half with options left or right of him, he seems to be able to thread his way through their defense, just needs to improve his shooting when he gets within range or have the confidence to go all the way and score, on the downside he has a heavy first touch at times and can easily lose the ball. Overall, he is good player who has been key to our success last season and can still do better, good option to have in the team, gives the manager a lot of options and always a threat to the opposition but sadly doesn't provide as much cover to the defence as mikel or close down opposition as Oscar does.

His passing is woeful Don Mata. First touch hit and miss, sometimes brilliant on other day shocking.
Maybe Ramires can be our 15+ goals box to box midfielder when Lampard departs(If we revert back to 4-3-3/4-3-2-1), certainly got an eye for goal and can burst past any player, positioning is alright as well when he drives forward from CM.

Essien is finished, need to get rid at the end of the season as much as It pains me to say.
