Degea potentially beta than Hart & Szczęsny

Make no mistake the spaniard has put in some joke performances since he signed for united and should never have cost 20 odd million as he is quite raw but in terms of innate natural ability I think Degea is possibly better than the 2.

I have mentioned them 2 for two reasons, they are reasonably young goal keepers and are supremely confident keepers whose ability at setpieces masks their suspect reflexes.

I know some will mention Hart having a brilliant season last term and he has performed heroics like the Dortmund game but so did Almunia against Barca from time to time.

He is the 2nd best keeper in the league as I believe Cech is still the best but his reflexes arent sharp enough and in europe where most if not all teams play through the middle he will get exposed just like Szczęsny.

I cant remember the number of times Degea has saved with his feet this season while diving in the opposite direction. His reflexes are just incredibly sharp something Hart and Szczęsny are very poor at.Both get beaten easily at the near post as they take ages to get down to the ball and as I type this Szczęsny has failed to readjust to a shot close to his body as he was going the other way.

I remember Hart against Napoli in the champions league last season, was going in one direction, the shot was not even a hard shot, down the center, close to his body and he missed it.

We are discussing potential, and degea could fall short of the mark but for now he seems to show better natural ability than them 2.

Thoughts?

Friedals better than De Gea and Chesney

Hart, Cech and Lloris are the top 3 PL goalkeepers.

Lloris did look shaky today but he impressed me against Sunderland.

Still think Cech is the bench mark in the league. Not as good as before but has been brilliant for Chelsea this season.Begovic is a good shout however he looked poor today against City.

I can't believe you say De Gea is more naturally talented than Hart and co, technically he is a terrible keeper he's always saving with his feet and rarely catches the ball, go and ask a team what they'd rather have a keeper who's reliable and catches the ball or someone who capable of pulling off a wonder save but is a constant danger to conceding as he can't catch the ball.

@Martin Skrtel Slovakian beast (U4953)

Thats why I say potentially. At the moment Degea wouldnt make the premiership top 5 because he has some bad habits but if coched well he has the ability to be a top keeper.

Remember Degea also has better footwork and distribution. His reflexes are way better than the others.

But then again Wenger tried to turn a reflex keeper Almunia into a top class keeper and it never quite worked out so who knows.

I defo think Degea is better than Szezney

Bad habits are hard to change! It's much easier to coach someone has good handling as these are the fundamentals of being a good keeper, and you build from that and eventually you can have a keeper who is solid and can pull of a acrobatic save, where as with De Gea he has picked up these faults in his techniques and old habits die hard so he'll find it harder to be coached the basic techniques.

To be honest are Szczesney and De Gea really even better than someone such as Mignolet?

It's easier to be in goal for a big team, just look at Victor Valdes who is terrible.

Please playing for a small team is much easier than a top club. Mignolet errors get overshadowed as there are alot more shot against them.

i agree Valdez is a shocking keeper.

you come up with a good point. The thing is they are young keepers and as you know goal keeping is about experience so clubs are willing to invest and good young keepers.

by the way I agree with Martin Skrtel Slovakian that Degea has some bad habits but he is very young as a keeper. He could improve his handling.
