BSc (Honours) Computing and IT
Software development and networking | 360 Credits

Stage 1
You'll start your Stage 1 studies with My digital life (TU100) (60 credits), which gives you hands-on experience of designing, building and programming the small, ubiquitous computers that will become increasingly common over the next decade. You'll also learn about the profound technological, economic, political and ethical changes brought about by information technology that will affect every one of us.

Next, you'll develop your mathematical skills, choosing one of two 30-credit modules - Using mathematics (MST121) or Discovering mathematics (MU123) - to underpin your further study of computing and enhance your employability.

Finally, the 30-credit module - Technologies in practice (TM129) - will offer you an opportunity to sample some key technologies enabling you to develop essential skills and to explore where your future study and career aspirations may lie.

Stage 2
At Stage 2, you'll begin your specialist studies in software development with two 30-credit modules; Object-oriented Java programming (M250) and Software development with Java (M256). You'll learn how to specify and design computer programs, and develop your programming skills using the object-oriented programming language Java. You'll use industry standard software tools such as an integrated development environment and the Unified Modelling Language (UML); and you'll also learn about the analytical techniques and processes essential for designing, specifying and implementing a software system including a graphical user interface.

The 60-credit networking option, Cisco networking (CCNA) (T216), will give you the knowledge, understanding, and skills needed to configure a LAN/WAN using Cisco equipment (which should also leave you well prepared for the industry-standard CCNA certification examination). You'll gain hands on practical experience of configuring networks at four compulsory day schools.

Group 4 - Level 2 Compulsory Software Development (Part 1)0 of 30 credits selected

Group 5 - Level 2 Compulsory Software Development (Part 2)0 of 30 credits selected

Group 6 - Level 2 Compulsory Networking0 of 60 credits selected

Stage 3
Stage 3 studies build on the knowledge, skills and understanding of the specialist subjects you studied at Stage 2. Currently you can choose three 30-credit modules from the following:

Developing concurrent distributed systems (M362) - Study the theory and practice of developing concurrent distributed computing systems, learn about advanced use of Java, and examine heterogeneous and mobile systems and security.

Ebusiness technologies: foundations and practice (T320) - explores the driving forces behind developments in ebusiness, introducing the fundamental technologies and protocols upon which new systems and services can be built.

Keeping ahead in information and communication technologies (T324) - You'll Investigate how to keep pace with rapid changes in ICT, and how to use ICT successfully in complex systems where people play a major part.

Natural and artificial intelligence (M366) - You'll explore one of humanity's oldest dreams - the creation of intelligent machines - taking in ideas from biology and philosophy as well as computing and technology.

Relational databases: theory and practice (M359) - Gain an advanced and detailed insight into relational databases - of direct benefit to those interested in the planning, design and operation of a database.

Software engineering with objects (M363) - Designing, building and testing software systems can be a complicated process. This module offers you the intellectual tools to make the tasks involved easier.

Technologies for digital media (T325) - Digital technologies are transforming our experience of media. This module will enable you to understand how, and looks at related social, ethical and legal issues.

You'll conclude your studies with an individual project on a topic of your choice, The computing and IT project (TM470) (30 credits), which you'll research, develop and write up - presenting your findings in a substantial report that you can show employers as a portfolio of your work.

I found this interesting Business course..

BA (Honours) Business Studies

About this course

Study to become a midwife in facilities described by the Nursing and Midwifery Council as 'a beacon for the future development of health education in this country'. To date, 100% of our graduates have been employed in midwifery in the UK. As a student you develop all the skills needed to provide essential support, care and advice for women and children during pregnancy, labour, birth and afterwards. We provide modern facilities to help you develop clinical skills and specialist knowledge for your career. You study in our £13 million purpose-built Robert Winston Building on Collegiate Crescent Campus. Its clinical suites include mock birthing facilities which simulate the home or hospital environments in which you learn and work. This makes it easier to make the links between theory and practice in the real world with confidence. Practice-based learning is central to your development and you spend 50% of each year on clinical placements in a hospital or community setting with Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley or Doncaster and Bassetlaw trusts. By learning this way, you will find that your academic study supports your learning in clinical practice and you are provided with a mentor to help develop your skills. Two of the above trusts provide your practice placement experiences. This is most helpful in broadening your experiences and so preparing you for 21st century practice. To complete your practical training, you hold a small case load of women in a 14 week placement in the community supported by your midwife mentor in your final year.In your final year you also write a dissertation, where you develop your specialist understanding and analytical skills by investigating a topic relating to midwifery. The dissertations tackle a topic of your choice. This provides an opportunity for you to explore complex and sometimes contentious issues for mothers and midwives for example women's decision making around their childbirth experiences. As part of the course you complete a Level 2 award in understanding health improvement, which provides you with a certificate from the Royal Society of Public Health. We are currently the only university in the UK that offers this as part of our healthcare courses.Key areas of studyYear one of the course concentrates on childbirth as a normal and healthy life event, with year two focussing on the care and management of more complex cases. Year three of the course blends all previous experiences in readiness for management of a small caseload of women and practice beyond registration as a midwife.  Key areas include • midwifery and normality health and psychosocial aspects of maternity care • infant feeding • obstetric and neonatal emergencies • promoting normality and women’s health • promoting mental health and wellbeing • public health..

I got him first Lads, on the ITC, ICT thing.
Now he is back and in his post a little earlier in this Article, you will note that he has progressed, once again, from "A" level status, to obtaining a Degree in just two and a half Weeks.
PHEW! He is my Hero. What a speed reader and Knowledge soaking Sponge he must be.
He will be taking the LONDON KNOWLEDGE, the week after he passes his Driving Test no doubt, then we will have to put up with,"You`ll never guess who i had in the back of my Cab Last Night" Anecdotes, and of course, they will all be absolutely TRUE!
