Linked with Michael Johnson from man city again. Sven really does like to go for the players he knows. Seems he's after every centre mid going at the moment too! Johnson and Fernandes. Wellens and co must be getting a little worried by now.

I'd rather have Adam Johnson from Man City. We should sign Glen Johnson and Andrew Johnson as well, while we're at it.

I think it's either Fernandes or Johnson. After all, Fernandes was rumored to be talking to a number of clubs around Europe ala CMS so perhaps Sven isn't too confident of Gelson signing.
If it were a loan I'd think it'd be with a permanent signing in view because I can't see him getting into Man City's side. I think the loan at this stage is probably the most sensible decision because we don't know how his knees and abdomen (where he's had his problems) will hold up so maybe a permanent isn't the best for know. He's a top player though and I think when fit he could do very well in this league. However, he hasn't featured in pre-season for Man City and he's put on a lot of weight looking at that photo. So, he might be behind in terms of fitness but if we can get him up to speed then it'd be a good signing.

Very good player.
I imagine it will be a loan agreement with an agreed fee and first refusal for a permanent transfer at the end.

"Everyone playing at the club keeps saying competition for places is great!"
Yes, but what else would they say? "I wish Sven wouldn't keep signing decent players, who are going to keep me out of the team"? It wouldn't do their image much good, would it?

Indeed fatfox. A midfield with Johnson and fernandes should be pretty tidy for this league though. would be very excited if we get both of these in.

A midfield of Johnson and Fernandes would be good enough for the prem I feel. Who'd be the third though? King, Wellens or Danns?

Just reading some of the above comments - am I the only person who thinks Wellens is by far our best player??

I'd agree for the midfield, but would rate the two potential signings as potentially better!

Wellens probably was our best player last year.
But Johnson and Fernandes are a class above.
They should play if they're better. There's no room for sentiment in football.

I agree with Doctor Fox, although these players are very good indeed, I think Wellens deserves his spot for creativity and distribution, I'd also like to keep King in for his pop up goals mainly, and danns I haven't yet seen in a city shirt so can't comment.
Is Sven looking at playing a 5 man midfield possibly?
