What a win for Deportivo

Bottom of the League v 4th, just 1 win from 16 but we showed massive effort to get the win

Malaga were pretty poor by their standards, Isco was quiet and shown up by his team mate Buananotte who looked very dangerous when on. The usual solid pairing of Weligton and Demichelis were in a generous mood. Bruno Gama missed several opportunities, and Caballero was in good form. The closest Depor came in the first half was a fantastic break was stopped by a cynical foul. Pizzi took the free kick and lashed it against the post! For all these chances and the effort, Malaga almost took the lead, Joaquin spurning the best chance. Valeron was dropped, a bold decision by new coach Pacienca, but it looked to have paid off as Depor looked increasingly lively and fluid, bar Riki who although held the ball up well, could be a tad wasteful (his shot with his left ) Reminds me of Adebayor with Spurs. Depor were doing well, but needed that finishing prowess. The magnificent Pizzi provided this, cutting past Demichelis and slamming it into the corner. 1-0! Depor continued to play well, until the last 15 minutes or so when Malaga pressed. Santa Cruz missed a header, but the big opportunity was when Buananotte cutting through on the byline, setting up Isco who couldn't find a way through a grizzled defence. Depor held on for a fantastic win, and a big shock in La Liga,as they rise to 19th, but most importantly close the gap on their rivals. Things all of a sudden look much rosier in La Coruna.
