What a man
"I've had several conversations with Harry and [club owner] Tony Fernandes," the New Zealander said.
"They have been so understanding with my situation.
"They understand that when I play I am playing on glass knees and glass ankles. It is a bit of a struggle.
"They know I am at the end but they also know the predicament they are in. It is a major predicament.
"QPR would like me to keep playing but we have to sit down and talk. If we can get five straight wins, that'd be perfect.
"I think then we can shake hands and part company but we are just going to have to talk and see how things progress."
So he's playing on in pain, one of the few Hughes transfers who QPR supporters have rated and appreciated - example comment stolen below:
"If he goes, then I won't even question his decision.
He's given 100% every game and shown as much heart as Hill or Mackie (quite a feat!) He definitely shows he cares as much as we do. "
I think Ryan is one of the few players I've always been interested in reading about. A professional who plays with his heart on his sleeeve - who cared about every ball. My type of defender and I think one of the shameful, lowest points of the evil Venkean Alliance.
And even now he cares, he wants this opportunity but wishes he could set things right for the QPR fans. True legend.
Aww - I might cry

Another genius decision by Kean and Venkys.

Great ambassador for club and country, true professional and one of my all time favourite Rovers players. Best of luck in his new career!!

as a QPR fan i have to say there have been times this season when he has looked like the only one who cares, well apart from Mackie.
i like Ryan a lot, always gives 100% and is a true pro.
i wish him all the best.

I remember starting "there's only one Ryan Nelsen" off at Ewood one time after he'd just won about his 12th towering header in a row during one game. Legend for us, was always proud he was our captain.

It always frustrated me that we did not have a regular song for Nelsen, but many far lesser players got their name sung from the terraces.

wow, probably the first player I seen going to retire before season ends and become manager. He is playing with glass knees.
