Has anyone else thought about this. If the propsed 12-12-18 comes to pass this is in effect what we will have.
From what has been put out there is no winner of SPL 2.
The only end of season chmpions will be those who win the SPL and those who win the 18 strong bottom tier.
No big deal I guess just curious it has had no comment as far as I have seen or heard from either main stream or social media.

Given that promotion to the top tier becomes very difficult then why would the sfl vote for it? There would need to be a sweetener for them.
I don't think it matters what set up we have. The fundamental problem is that we have too many teams competing to attract too few fans.

Scotscelt - why is it better?
Well if it can provide better financial stabilty for those clubs at the bottom end of the SPL and those at the top of the current first division then that has to be good doeasent it ?
Like I said above I dont really care none of the variations change anything for Celtic. The only one that does is the 16 top flight would mean playing against 4 more sides a season but at the cost of loosing 8 games.
Tough call but I suppose would at a push plumb for 30 games home and away but like I said this would sink many clubs if it was implemented without something in the region of 2 or 3 years notice to allow them to budget futre contracts accordingly.

Scot - but whilst is DOES certainly protect the SPL, it actually places the SFL1 top teams in greater peril. Do they invest to compete with SFL1 quality teams, or risk all in the hope of not only beating SFL1 teams to finish in top 4, but then beat them AGAIN, plus beat SPL btm 4 teams to gain promotion.
As to the home & away argument. This reconstruction is meant to better all of football, but the top 2 tiers play get 36 games total (playing each other 4 times - excl middle group of 8 who play new teams twice), and bottom tier gets 24 games total - playing each other 4 times.
So how does that IMPROVE the game again?

Its all about stategy those who invisage being a top 4 side in SPL 2 will have far less risk than the current case of pushing the boat out to win it.
Like I said mate it dont really matter to me as Celtic are the least effected club in this whole matter.

Hmmm was that a fruedian slip should have read strategy not stategy which sounds close to standing still

Ok, so Rangers don't get a vote.
Moving on - Celtic are affected financially by giving away more of "their share" of the pot.
But the SPL are only in this for the SPL, that much is clear. Throwing some scraps from the table to the other leagues in an attempt to buy another few years of power is pretty pathetic.
Especially when fans apparently do not want more of the same, which is essentially what this is; repackaged, new logo, complicated set up, all to hide the emperor's new clothes.

True Celtic loose out just as do also every other SPL club. As a percentage of Celtics turnover though it is minimal might have a greater effect on some of the current top flight clubs once Rangers are back to a strength that will remove the chance of the likes of Hearts,DU,Aberdeen etc ,etc claiming second . The greatest benifit will be gained by those who flit between the SPL and the current 1st div.
