City aren't even in the top half of the league when it comes to generating noise;

It is very high up, at the back of the east stand, you do get a good view of the game, but if you think the atmosphere is bad at OT in other parts of the ground it's non-existent up there, i sat/stood there for a cup game against Spurs a few years ago and was embarrassed at the lack of energy at that part of the ground compared to the travelling support.
The above is a post from bruceanpally on the united page a few days ago.
Atmosphere is more than noise statman.

To be honest, it is difficult to measure nowadays with the difference in stadiums that some clubs have as to which fans actually generate the most noise. I know someone who works at transworld sport, and the difference through the television is massive as well depending on both where they put the mikes but also how much they turn the volume up on them.

Wasn't that one of the tricks Sky used when they first started. Turn up the volume so you get the impression that the commentators are struggling to make themselves heard even if the crowd are quiet and the stadium is half empty.
