Anelka didn't play today,i personally hope this is the end of the road for the journey man.He has been a good servant and won the golden boot for himself at Chelsea.i guess he will easily get a club in France and will not mind if we give him a "golden hand shake" because of difficulty in finding a club who will match his huge wage bill.Although, Sturridge look lively today,i think we should still try and get a winger(Ardan turan, Adam Johnson,Mata) which will benefit the overall team, and with the apparent "imminent" transfer of pastore,i think we will be ready for the season.

First of all, I know Anelka didn't have a good season last year, but to describe him as a "journeyman" is well wide of the mark. He's been a top player for many years, and was golden boot winner just 2 years ago. People have very short memories. If he has his heart in it, he could well be a vital member of the squad this year. Yes, he may play a smaller role than he has in the past - but he still has fantastic ability, and a striker's instinct for goal. Sturridge could learn a lot from having a striker as talented as Anelka around.
