Hi all
So, Redknapp today confirmed he is in talks with us for Gallas to join QPR.
I'm quite happy for Gallas to leave, if we get a fee of ~ 1million, that could be useful money in addition to the wages we won't have to pay him.
But with two potential first teamers (Gallas + Ade) and a useful bench player (Livermore/loan?) absent, we must have something lined up, somebody simply has to come in.
I think we have a very strong first 11, but atm the moment, assuming Dempsey is taking Ade's place, our bench looks weak.
The only one IMO who looks like coming on and have an impact might be Siggs and the jury is still out on him.
I think our bench could be our downfall, we probably won't be able finish every game off after 65min, so we'll need somebody fit and talented to help us win games in the closing stages.
What's your opinion on our bench's strength and who do you think could come in and be the support we'll definitely need?
Weak bench?

Jenas should be trusted with a slot on the bench let alone a squad number

who have we got at centre back this week ?
grant hall and jermaine jenas

Neither Naughton or Walker have the positional sense or ability to compete with Premier League forwards. Yes we could sell Gallas but if our only alternatives are playing people out of position or before they're ready it's crazy to let him go. IMO

I'm worried when Walker plays at right back recently, let alone centre back! And Naughton? He's too light to play as a centre back, that would be suicidal! I would't mind Sandro playing there but since it isn't his natural position for spurs, I'd much rather have Gallas in the squad.

sandro's played there for us before and he was shiiiiit. besides, we need him in midfield.

Jermaine Jenas...About to be re-registered with the squad versatility is key and has played here whilst at Forest (The first time)
Sandro....Has played here for internacional and Brazil tactically astute would be fine here. If he could steer clear of the bookings!
========================
are you joking mate ? these arent premier league centre backs.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would have Dembele, Sandro, Parker, Huddlestone, Livermore and Carroll ahead of Jenas when it comes to centre mids, he doesn't offer much in his natural position nowdays, let alone in any other position.

Oh i was not suggesting they were my preferred options just if we had an injury crisis at centre back.
Kyle walker fits perfectly at centre back. The media hype that he struggles positionally is embarrasing.

would you be happy to see walker picked at centre back for the man united game next week ?

I don't base my criticism on media hype at all. He has been better this season, but he makes up for a lot of it with his pace. Standard errors aside I can't recall him ever playing there in the league for us.
Doing it in training, or playing at a level below is one thing but I've seen nothing to make me want to see Walker at CB. I'd rather we played Livermore there.

@jpb
Oh god no of course not as i said it was only options in a real emergency. Once Kaboul is back we will have 4 centre backs which is enough.
@blb
Oh no i was not suggesting you, i just feel Walker gets a hard time whereas someone like Gallas is hardly criticised despite making the majority of mistakes.
I would love Livermore at centre back the boy would be great there sadly he is leaving.
Walker has played there for us once (before he had offficially broke into the team and before the Villa loan) for the life of me i cant remember the game. It was only 20 minutes someone got sent off or injured at centre back and Hutton come on at right back.
Here is to a good game today guys!
