We now need cover for Silva

Much has been written about the amount of strikers and defensive midfielders we have in the squad, so the question is "Which creative midfielder should we now try for"? And what are our realistic chances of getting them. Your thoughts!.

Playing in the middle was where he shone at villa, I think with silva yaya aguero "fingers crossed" an Johnson he will up his game!

I also want to see Milner given a run in the middle, but in place of Barry. You get defensive qualities with Milner, like you do Barry, but I have to disagree with you oopsupsideyerhead, I think Milner definitely does offer something going forward, that you don't really get with Barry.

I don't even think we need someone to provide cover for Silva, I think we need a partner for him. We play with three attacking midfielders, last season Silva and Yaya held down two of those positions, but nobody managed to cement that third spot. Johnson, Milner, Balotelli, even Kolarov was played. Think it's time we put in a proper bid for Nasri, him on one side, Silva on the other, Yaya down the middle, and then Milner and De Jong behind them would be ideal for me!

You say we don't need cover for Silva yet mention a bid for Nasri? also talk about giving Milner a chance?. Is it your opinion that if we get Nasri there are enough competitions and league games for them all to get a chance?

Definitely, the midfield was stretched last season when we were still in the Europa League, next season is only going to be more tiring, and so far we have made no additions to our midfield.

Nasri, Silva and Yaya as our main three attacking midfielders, De Jong and Milner/Barry behind them. Then we've got Kolarov, Johnson and SWP who can provide more width in the midfield if needed. I don't think that's too much, I think that's a decent amount of depth and quality.

If we sign aguerro here is hoping, his best position is playing deep, Milner an yaya alternating in the middle with silva left Johnson right, yaya gets forward well an with attacking play from Richards and cliche we have lots of options, ballotelli an djecko will have to take there chances, all in all I'm confident, what's going on

I just don't think that Adam Johnson is ready to be a regular first team starter, he was much better as an impact sub.

De Jong and Milner covering the back four, with Yaya in the middle of our attacking midfielders, where he can switch with Milner throughout the match. Nasri and Silva on either side of Yaya where they can switch and keep the opposition guessing, also relieves some of the pressure off everything creative we do coming through Silva.

That would be my ideal midfield. Aguero upfront, and then Barry, Kolarov, SWP and Johnson all as cover.

I agree about Milner and have been saying all last season that he was much better than Barry and offers more going forward, he says himself that he prefers to play in the middle. Why does Mancini insist on sticking with Barry? Some of his passing is woeful and he is easily dispossessed, he has had one or two good games but overall i prefer Milner.
In my opinion we do not need any more midfield players, we can only name a 25 man squad anyway so why buy players at inflated prices because of who our owners are then not be able to play them due to new rules.

We have got space in the 25 man squad though, with Savic not listed due to being under 21, and players named last season likely not to make the cut this year; Bridge, Ade, RSC. Then Boateng, Viera and M Johnson (if he goes out on loan) won't be named, so we've got plenty of space in the squad.

I just think our midfield was one quality player short last season, so we might as well bring one in now before the FFP rules come into full effect.

Good point i forgot that some were no longer counted as mentioned. So who would you like to see added?

In an ideal world we'd clone David Silva and play one on either side of Yaya! But I suppose Nasri is the most realistic target. Basically want someone who will be able to forge a partnership with Silva, two creative mids in that mould would absolutely tear opposition midfield and defences apart.

Probably need to bring in someone with a bit more of an eye for goal than David though, he seems to prefer to pass the ball infront of an open net (RE: was it West Ham at home?!)
