Depends on how old you are i suppose, i grew up when liverpool were cleaning up year after year so for me they are the ultimate scalp.

ONH, have you ever been to a Liverpool v United game? I've sat in the away end at the Etihad without trouble; you wouldn't catch me doing it at Anfield
was going to United/L/pool games in the 80s mate & yes have been in their end & yes it did get a bit mad back then but for me its always been City/L/pool/Leeds.

As a neutral I have too say the only Derbies of note are teams from the same city/town, all others are just rivalries, and should stay as such. United/City is the biggest derby in Manchester, and Liverpool/Everton is the biggest derby in Liverpool. That is what I was brought up on, not the niggling festering hatred of rivalries from teams that are perhaps 50 or 100 miles apart.

My Dad is a City fan and so is his side of the family so for me the City match is the bigger of the two

I think the difference between Liverpool and everyone else is that the rivalry doesn't diminish depending on their success, or lack off.
In the 00's there were times when I couldn't stand Arsenal and other times when I prayed for Chelsea to lose games or for John Terry break his toe and be out for a few weeks (I'm cool with wishing minor injury on players), but nowadays neither Arsenal or Chelsea bother me much at all. In fact I even wanted Chelsea to win the champions league and I hope Wenger can make Arsenal title contenders again. City have only really bothered me for 2 years; before that they were just a mild annoyance with ridiculously bitter fans.
The one constant throughout has been my dislike of Liverpool FC. Again to reiterate, nothing against an individuals, but I hate the very existence of that club and hope Anfield burns to the ground (with nobody inside to get hurt)!

Faid enough ONH
In fact Didi, I think Liverpool FC are responsible for my shìt obsession; your lot were hurling it down on us fromabove one year at Anfield. Ever since then i've associated Liverpool with shìt

Sandy, there are factors involved other than festering hatred as you put it, like the title of most succesful club in the land, it's no fun growing up watching a club 40 miles down the road win everything in sight, so to close that gap has huge significance.

Probably quicker to get from OT to anfield than it is White Hart lane to Chelsea.
