Fresh Goodie bid rejected

According to Jim Spence, BBC Sport, United have rejected a £1.6 million plus add-ons bid from a team down south, of which he believes is from Blackpool. Personally, I'm glad to see that ST and PH are sticking to their guns and not accepting cut-price bids for Goodwillie. I expected United to accept anything above £1.5 million but they've proved me wrong! Well done United, he will go but not on the cheap!

Quebec, you wouldn't know mate, he did them a favour there signing a new contract otherwise he could have been going for nothing. Maybe he's told them he wants to move to Rangers and they're respecting his wishes, hence all this "Rangers would be as well paying up here" talk.

The ball is firmly in utds court. I think he will go to ibrox. Will whyte bow to the pressure of stumping up?

Qubec, I have no doubt that the bigger Championship teams have more cash that us but i would hope that Rangers (&Celtic) would be able to come close to them and add the offer of Euro football. Be it CL or Europa.

My only concern with Goodwillie coming to Rangers is his past behaviour. Had Walter been in charge I would have thought he coped with Gazza nae sweat! I just hope Ally can man manage as well as his mentor!

Close to the wages even.

Gus, not a dig. But I don't see Ally as that kind of manager.
There was a bear on earlier saying he doesn't have the personality of SAF Mourinho Walter who would give players a right rollicking.

At this moment in time Rangers value Gooddick at a 1/3 of Laugherty. Must rate him eh?

Cue the "But he's pure goot SPL medals so he hus"

Qubec, i dont take it as a dig. I only come on here for a sensible debate!

I see your point about Ally giving a player a b*llocking, but my understanding is that while he has been assistant he has distanced himself from the dressing room 'banter'.

My biggest concern with Ally is his tatics, will he try and do a Walter and play it safe or make use of his more attacking players potential (Davis being the best example)

quebeccelt - "..it seems he can't leave the house without getting into a fight.
And that's living in Dundee"

I'm sure if you check you'll find that none of his 'incidents' happened in Dundee, and mostly happened in Glasgow

To all these old firm firms that have hijacked this post a few points:

He doesn't get arrested every time he leaves the house, only when he goes to weegie land. Don't think he has ever been in any trouble in Dundee.

The player and Peter Houston have both come out and publicly stated that Goody would prefer to move down south and get away from the media spotlight (as recently as this week), so all these Rangers fans with the delusion that he wants to go them are just ignoring the facts and believing stories on message boards/from their mate down ra pub that knows a guy...

I am pleasantly surprised that Thomson is sticking to his guns, even though i do wish he hadn't put a fixed value to the press.

I can't remember the player publicly stating that his preference was to move down south, although, Houstie HAS claimed that the player said this to him.

Maybe he's had a change of heart - but I hope no' as I really don't want him playing for Rangers.

I wish Goodie all the best in his career. He's been great for us and I'm thankful for the service he has given United.

I think that for Goodie to truly realise his potential he now needs to break away from the SPL.

Anyways, Rangers won't even get to speak to the player unless they meet the asking price, which they don't appear to have.

So, it really doesn't look like Goodie will be going to Ibrox.
