Referees wanting to be stars

First off I've never been a fan of this referee he has the air of arrogance about him. You can look at decisions from both sides all I can say is I don't recall seeing a player being sent off for that kind of incident before. In effect what he has done is ruin a sporting event for 60,000 people after only 10 minutes. However there is no excusing the embarrassing defending to allow the most pointless player in the world that is Milner time and space like that.

He's about 6 yards out and it's falling straight to him if he's not hauled down. Doesn't get any clearer

Not in my opinion. There's a chance it doesn't and thus is debatable and not a red.

TOOR

Koscielny rugby tackled Dzeko 6 yards from goal, which prevented Dzeko from getting a shot in at goal. Thus, a goal scoring opportunity had been denied.

Definite red card and just absolute idiocy from a defender that only has himself to blame.

TOOR

It was not clear cut, Szczesny could very well have got there before Dzeko - penalty and yellow would have been fairer.

Where was it going then? Dzeko would have got to it before the keeper if the defender didn't have hold of him and that's why it was a red

Yeah I agree there's a chance the keeper could have got to it first. Not a clear scoring chance.

In fact it doesn't even look like Dzeko was following the flight if the ball nor is it clear whether he would have judged it. You simply can't be clear.

Keeper wasn't getting there at all, Tevez beat the keeper to it and he was much further back than Dzeko was

Tevez was running towards the ball, Dzeko had to turn onto it and it looked like he wasn't following it, plus he is much slower than Tevez. You simply cannot be clear and thus it cannot be a red.

Dzeko was a foot away from it, it would have landed right at his feet had Koscielny not hauled him down.
