What do we make of this?
Why would Bristol be a more attractive proposition than Barnsley? The climate? The money? Commitment to spending on players?
Who knows but he can f%gk orf

Probably the ownership issue!

Rumour has it SOD also passed over the Blackpool job before going to Bristol. S'funny, he was in for the Bristol City job last time but the Board preferred to give it to McInnes.
No hard feelings from us, just hope we stay up and he goes down!

Money, perhaps? BCFC owner worth £500m, already put £100m or so into the club!

£100 million and they're still shi'ite
Don't care, Flicker is our boss now. O'Driscoll knows the division but not our team, Flicker is loved by the players and knows them like the back of his hand. Plus he doesn't come across as a boring bar steward like Sean.

I imagine it is down to two factors.
Firstly it is the issue of ownership. Football is not a business for people wanting to make money, so attracting an investor for business reasons is nigh on impossible. In a previous topic I posted a link from a director from Brighton and Hove Albion announcing that they are operating at a loss of £8 Million a year despite attendances in excess of 25,000.
On the other hand Barnsley who operate at a profit of £2.4 Million, but the problem with owning Barnsley is that the facilities are owned by the local council, and acquiring the club means you own nothing in terms of assets. Therefore it things go wrong it is down to the contents of the owners pockets rather than mortgaging the clubs facilities etc.
From a financial perspective, investing in this is utter madness especially considering the fact that supporters struggle to afford to pay the ticket prices, although hopefully this will change now due to the reduction.
The second factor is the enormity of the task. We have probably the smallest wage and transfer budget in the league and we are four points adrift. Hard times.
