To be honest there are many problems , the style of play seemed a bit aimless. I don't like the way we get the ball two thirds of the way up the pitch and then hoof it. We've got far too much technical ability to be doing that. We should try keeping it on the ground a bit more, regardless of how deep the opposition are playing.
On top of this we need more steel and fight in Midfield in particular. It's far too easy to get past that double pivot and Hazard is rarely back to help out. Having someone like Fellaini makes all the difference, even if you play him in the role his currently plays at Everton, as he can drop back and make it difficult for the opposition.
I will also add that the toxic atmosphere we have at the moment isn't helping- I say this as someone that regularly attends games. I'm not going to stop people airing their views, but I really think it's getting to the players- some of which are extremely fragile mentally- *cough*ladyboy*cough*. I think Jose would fix that. Standards have slipped and the players need to know the potential they can reach, many players note how Jose got in people minds and mate them feel ten feet tall.
So, solution:
1. Get a steely, determined, big Midfielder like Fellaini in.
2. Damage Limitation for the rest of the 2012/13 season, get top four, don't worry too much about trophies, this season is a write off I'm afraid. I feel interim Rafa is going to be the only option until May and I reckon he'll get us top four before we bid him farewell.
3. If Jose is available get him early in the window to meet with the squad and give them a chance to get to know one another. We need to make sure he is given a big contract, afforded more control than any other Chelsea manager in the past decade and we keep him for the long term. There is nobody better.
I must say theyve done pretty well on the lampard situation and they will do the same over and over again.
The title is gone , Lets just survive the season with the waiter, top 4 finish is a MUST and at the moment it looks like we can achieve it. We can rebuild in the summer this time properly.
My stance is that we cannot sack Raffa now , it was a mistake hiring him in the first place but sacking him now will mean finding another interim manager unless we 100 % have a fulltime manager lined up.
I believe The main issue is here at the bridge , that wel have no more patience than Roman......
We are paying the price of 5 years worth of short term planning coming to back to bite. AVB might have had poor results, but he was supposed to be rebuilding the squad - months later, he has gone and and we are no better off......
Whoever Roman appoints, the fans demand instant sucess and so short term failures lead to sackings. A long term view is needed here from the whole club, from Roman down to the supprters.
PS : We have an awful tendency to fall back to our goal when the ball goes across out penalty area. Seen it so many times this season.
