Can't win

It seems that this Walcott sga was a no win situation for the board

We have signed him on a £100k a week contract and people are complaining saying it's far too much but I can't help but think if we had let him go because we weren't meeting his wage demands then people would have been equally as frustrated saying we need to start spending money to keep our players.

Personally I am happy he has signed, hopefully he continues to score the goals we need!

I think you're right.
A lot of people will be annoyed at this because Walcott patently isn't a good enough footballer for all his 4rsing around to have been justified. We are paying him more than he is worth.
BUT
At the same time, losing another player probably would have been too much for a lot of the fans to take.
If we hadn't los the successio of players we did lately, then I think Walcott wold have been sold without a second thought.
But the contract could be seen as a message to the fans - albeit and expensive one.
