Its hit the fan

After an article in the Football league paper it is alleged that STFC has creditors to the tune of £13Million and that we have a list of creditors and that we cheated our way out of League Two and broke rules numerous.

After a week of this and no big time statement from the club, only quiet announcements, our former chairman Jeremy Wray has now come out and said, he is considering action against the publication. However most supporters feel that the damage has been done, and our new Chairman, Bill Patey has made no big obvious statement to the press to stop the rot. In fact his silence is construed by many supporters of other clubs as an endorsement of the supposition that we do owe banks HMRC VAT etc when nothing is further from the truth. The editor and article writer on the paper concerned are no longer available for comment or to answer e-mails or phone calls .

My opinion is that the club should have called a full press conference and addressed the problem before it gained momentum and issued a written statement clearly laying out the facts and not the darned fiction which so many have now eagerly adopted. Once more we are a maligned club when we have done nothing wrong. The fact that Patey has not denied any of these claims in a big press statement shows a lack of understanding of the gravity of such issues in my opinion. Charismatic he isn't. I thought he was here to promote the club in its best light, not its darkest moment.

Wrays stance is that he has been liabled of numerous wrong doings when he was the chairman, which of course is totally wrong, I dare say writs will start flying around soon. Full story in the Adver today for details, just in case I have innocently got something wrong, for which I apologise.

Ta mate, I now know what it is all about!

Seems we've now had an apology and our costs paid. The 'journalist' (and I use the term lightly) is a joke. Let's hope that the retraction gets the same amount of coverage as the original article. Somehow I doubt that it will.

Well done Bradford...great day for the underdog!

Yes indeed full marks to Bradford, I fully expect red to be after a Wembley ticket, and why not.

Taxi for Lambert ?

I wouldn't deprive any Bradford supporter by trying to get a ticket. In any case, when I lived there, I usually preferred the Avenue games. On of my mates hated City so much, that even if Avenue were playing there, he wouldn't go & let City have his gate money.
But, I used to go there when Avenue were away & have fond memories of the club, & Bradford in the whole.
I only go to Wembley to watch Town games - that in itself is expensive enough, & we might get there in the play offs. My budget couldn't stand 2 trips!
But, Hooky, in our private email footie league, is a life-long fan. Not heard from him today, understandable after last night.

Red

Good to read your comments. Many a FL cup final passes into history and a couple of years later you can't remember the finalists. However, I still have fond memories of watching the black and white TV pictures of Swindon at Wembley, featuring 2 great players for both our teams-Stan Harland and Peter Downsborough.

Best of luck with your promotion push.

EB,
I was there, but in that campaign, I reckon that our hardest task was to beat City. I was at the replay at the CG when we won 4-3 after being 2-0 down.

Yes, Red's right about that...it was a tough one.!

Very surprised Lambert still has his job given recent form and now booted out out of a Wembley money spinner by a bottom league club. Squeaky bum time at Villa Park me thinks. They had better start winning in the league or Learner will be looking for a replacement.
