Defensive crisis

We all realize our biggest weakness, the players and Lambert know it too, and had been practicing on defending set pieces; yet we are still vulnerable - why?

That became clearer to me as I watched the first half of the recent Bradford farce; despite playing relatively well, every corner was wasted. I recall Bannan taking two and both times it floated wide and high, well out of reach of anyones head.

If we cannot attack from set pieces, then we will be unable to train our defence to deal with them.

Yep, Bannan's corners were woeful. But I think the training's probably OK. It's individuals losing concentration on the pitch which is the problem. Vlaar was responsible for their goal, and he's the last person to you'd expect to be that. I think in his case, as captain, and senior defender, he was concentrating on making sure the others were doing their jobs, a good thing, but lost track of his own job in the process.

Don't think he'll do that again, and with him back overall I think our defence will be stronger.
