Not that this makes things any better, but we're not the only club in this position. I checked the Villa website to see if there was anything on the S Warnock story, and came across a piece by Lambert bemoaning that all his targets were too expensive and he couldn't guarantee 'getting any in'.

Seems we offered Becchio a 'Premier League' contract but it's not enough.
