Sooo...Centre midfielders then?

To give an example of Allen, he played very well alongside Leon Britton, who is a deep lying midfielder who doesn't score goals or really influence the attacking play.

Allen provided the bridge from Britton to the forward players for Swansea, and he will do the same for us when he is in better form.

All our players are terrible according to him, I've lost count. Lucas, Henderson, Skrtel, Enrique, Gerrard, Allen, Sturridge at least have been on his hitlist already.

Pay good money to go to football matches to see that first half display against United then I can come to whatever conclusion I want TOOR and it was clear to see the team are to negative with those to next to each other. Thats a fair assessment and the manager must see it as well because he took one of them off at half time then dropped the other one for the next game. The second half against United was 100 times better and the next game the teams flow was a lot better. FACT

Yes it was better as Henderson played better than Allen who was woeful. When players play better the team plays better. The United game for me changed when Sturridge came on and Suarez wasn't left to beat their whole defence, trying to dribble through defenders legs. Instead he had somebody ahead of him.

And you are blaming it on poor Allen form well he actually took Lucas off at half time and the team played better and the midfield looked a lot sharper because it works better...

Lucas was also playing badly and Allen is more of an attacking threat which we needed as we were way too defensive and losing the game.

I just had a look through the United match thread and every single poster is saying sub Allen off 20 mins into the game even you TOOR so honestly what is this argument even all about?

We have a number of midfielders can they all play brilliant together? Probably not?

The fact that Allen & Lucas together doesn't seem to work together is no slant on them but throughout that thread everyone is saying we are sitting to deep backing off them in midfield someone needs to bomb forward ect...

Well the reason that happened is because both players want to sit deep therefore when you bring on Henderson & play him in the middle and he bombs forward the strikers see more of the ball it pushes the opposition back and the team gains momentum..

I can not see the partnership of Lucas & Allen being our first choice if I am honest either play one or the other and play a more attacking midfielder plus Gerrard...

I feel that is a fair and honest assessment of them both together and clearly I am not the only one of that opinion...

And before you say Alonso sat deep and that worked well his passing makes things happen that have no right to happen thats why it was so effective plus Gerrard was a more gung hoe player at the time as he was a lot younger...

Because he was playing crap! Woefully crap! He was passing the ball to them, getting pushed off the ball and for some reason, like a schoolboy running in and diving in and ending up on the wrong side. it's nothing to do with not being able to play with Lucas, it's because he was playing crap, individually,

He was much better in the second half btw...

It depends on the game and how we want to play. Theoretically Allen and Lucas for the United game should have worked as we're playing a top team and needed to get control of the midfield, it didn't as both players were bad, especially Allen.

I do. Lucas is a defensive midfielder and our only one so he needs to play.

Allen was in poor form before Lucas came back.
