Liverpool FC so close to massive cup upset

Liverpool FC today were so close to causing one of the biggest cup upsets in recent times.

The PL minnows took on big spending giants Oldham in the FA Cup, the game was largely dominated by Oldham as expected, but a fluke goal by a part time Milkman Joe Allen that took a massive deflection got them back into the game in the 80th minute which made the scoreline 3.2 to Oldham.

For the last 10 minutes of the game the PL minnows gave everything they had, Steven Gerrard (a carpenter) hit the bar in a dramatic final few minutes. Apparently when he was younger he once had ambitions to win a PL title.

But their valant efforts were not enough to earn a replay in what would have been a massive FA Cup upset, Oldham managed to see out the frantic final few minutes to take them safely into next round avoiding a cup upset.

After the game Rodgers (the Liverpool manager) said that he felt the game was always going to be a step too far and was happy that they were not embarrassed.
