The match:
This match was evenly matched with both midfields on top of their game, we didn't get our first chance of the game until just 5 mins before half time. Southend found themselves with the first chance of the game when Baker uses his pace against Digine and runs at the full back and crossing the ball into the box for Castillo whose header is well saved by the Dagenham keeper.

The second half continues in the same vain with both midfields on top. However, the homeside do have a chance of their own before the hour with Zaha picking the ball up from Saul and running at the Southend back four with pace. He then plays a neat 1-2 with Icardi only for his low shot to be well saved by Blackman. The game continues to be dominated in midfield with no team making any more chances throughout the rest of the game.

Full time result:
Dagenham 0-0 Southend
MOTM: Baker - for setting the first chance of the game up.

The Match:

In a game with very few chances we saw both midfields on top. However, the first chance of the game on 30 mins feel to the away side with Tete playing the ball down field for Weimann who gets the ball to his foot and cuts in field and has a shot from 22 yards out, only for the ball to go just wide of the target. 5 minutes later the same combination happened again but this time Weimann sliding the ball through to Serderov only for Cambuur keeper Ranta to block him having a shot at goal. 5 mins before half-time Cambuur took a surprise lead with Rubio running at the Salisbury left back with pace and crossing the ball into the box and Ademilson firing a powerful shot passed Foderingham and giving Cambuur a 1-0 lead at Half time.

The second half saw the away side very much on top with Tete and Weimann playing well down the right wing and the Austrian trying to make things happen. On 55 mins Weimann had a shot on goal from 26 yards out after cutting in field only for Ranta to be equal to it. The game continued to be dominated by Salisbury but whatever they throw at the homeside their were always equal to it.
The game finished Cambuur 1-0 Salisbury
MOTM: Weimann

Nottingham Forest U21 vs Crawley U21

Line ups:

Nottingham Forest: Arrizabalaga, López, Rekik, Manquillo, Grimaldo, Iñiguez, Samper, Toral, García, Vadillo, Mina (Subs: Andy Polo, Insua, Fernández)

Crawley: Shea, Bellerin, Tanncock, Muniesa, Reach, Miquel, Verre, Torro, Olinga, Martin, L.Williams (Subs: Loveridge, Wyke, L.Williams)

This clash saw the bottom two sides in the Under 21 League go head to head, with both looking to get their first points on the board. With a very Spanish feel to things, both teams were clearly set up to play in the right way, looking to keep things tight at the back, whilst attacking with numbers.

The game got off to a bright start on a wonderful playing surface. The Springtime sun added a nice touch, and the fans were out in force, looking to catch a glimpse of their heroes of tomorrow. And there was no shortage of players looking to make themselves a hero. In the centre of midfield, the clash between Samper and Torro was mouth watering, neither man wanting to give an inch, with the former Barcelona youngster picking up Forest's first yellow card of the game after 10 minutes for a mistimed lunge.

Forest had slightly more experience in their line up, and it started to show as both wide men, Garcia and Vadillo got more and more into the game, but the Crawley full backs of Reach and Bellerin marshalled them superbly. The first breakthrough almost came midway through the first half - Toral getting caught in possession by Verre, who threaded a delightful ball forward in to the path of Martin, but the former Atletico man's touch deserted him, allowing Rekik to slide in and take the ball perfectly. The game continued to be a battle of wills in midfield, the two systems countering each other, but 5 minutes before half time, the home side got their noses in front.

The superb Alex Grimaldo won possession on the half way line before feeding the ball into the path of Vadillo, who showed Bellerin a clean set of heels before drilling the ball low and hard across Shea and in to the far corner of the net. Forest went in at the break, one nil in front.

Half Time: Nottingham Forest U21 1-0 Crawley U21

As the second half got underway, Forest seemed intent on dominating the battle in midfield, captain Samper in particular commanding. Both sides continued to cancel each other out, with Forest looking a threat from Toral's set pieces, and Crawley relying on long range efforts from Torro.

On the hour mark, Crawley were caught on the break; Bellerin got forward and looked to play a one-two with Olinga, only to see Grimaldo step in and win the ball. In a carbon copy of the goal, Grimaldo fed the ball into the path of Vadillo, but this time his shot across goal skimmed inches wide of the post and behind for a goal kick.

The game continued in the same fashion, Forest winning balls in midfield only to see them absorbed by the resolute Crawley, with Crawley coming within inches of a late equaliser when Muniesa made a serging run into the box, only to head Olinga's inch perfect cross over the bar from 8 yards out.

Full Time: Nottingham Forest U21 1-0 Crawley U21
Goal: Vadillo (Grimaldo)
Man of the Match: Grimaldo (Forest)

......... Salisbury v Dagenham and Redbridge .........

Salisbury side:
Foderingham, Tete, Cosic, Wooton, Potts, Ward Prowse, van der Brugge, Weimann, Inman, Ibe, Serderov
Subs:
Smith-Brown, Pritchard, Dunn

Dagenham side:
Branescu, De Sciglio, M’Baye, Kolasinac, Digne, Benassi, Rabiot, Livaja, Saul, Meyer, Maupay

The Match:
This game had everything from penalty incidents to goals. Our first goal of the game came on 30 minutes from the homeside, with Ibe teasing de Sciglio into a mistake as he gets the ball and breaks down the left and plays a neat ball into the middle and to Inman who then powers a shot from 20 yards out into the back of the Dagenham net. Salisbury 1-0 D&R. 5 minutes later Salisbury have a penalty appeal turned down after Seredov tricks the Dagenham defence and is left 1-on-1 with the keeper who brings him down but the ref waves play on. Down at the other end Dagenham break and Benassi plays the ball to Meyer who breaks down the wing with pace and cuts in field and has a shot from just inside the 18 yards box that goes wide of the target. Just before half time the home team double their lead with Ward-Prowse breaking with pace down field he plays the ball to Weimann who takes on his full back and puts a low cross into the box and Serderov is there to tap the ball into the net. Salisbury 2-0 D&R.

Half time – Salisbury 2-0 D&R

Second half:
The second half starts off on fire with Dagenham reducing the home sides lead early on in the second half. Meyer beats Tete for pace down the left and cuts in field and dribbles his way into the box and plays Maupay in on goal who strikes the ball into the back of the net. Salisbury 2-1 D&R. After that the home side went on the attack on 55 mins with Inman, Weimann and Ibe playing neat balls across the middle of the field the ball finds its way to Weimann how unleashes a thunderbolt of a shot from 25 yards out and leaves Branescu’s hands stinging as the he pushes the ball out wide. On 60 mins Dagenham make a change with Holzhauser coming on for Saul. That change may have sparked Dagenham back into life with Holzhauser playing the ball out wide to Meyer who breaks down the wing and cuts in side and from 20 yards out the Dagenham man shots the ball hard and it goes into the back of the net! Salisbury 2-2 D&R. In what has been a very interesting game today the match is then decided 10 minutes from time with Weimann picking up the ball from Ward Prowse and runs at pace down the right wing and plays the ball in field and Inman is on the edge of the box and slips a ball through for Seredov, who then shots the ball into the back of the Dagenham net Salisbury 3-2 Dagenham. On 92 minutes the Ref calls time on this amazing game.

Full time result:
Salisbury 3-2 Dagenham
Salisbury scorers: Inman (Ibe), Seredov x2 (Weimann, Inman)
Dagenham Scorers: Maupay (Meyer), Meyer (Holzhauser)
MOTM: Weimann – Caused Dagenham problems all afternoon. However, Meyer could also have claimed this award for the same reason.

......... Crawley v Southend .........

Line ups:

Crawley: Shea, Bellerin, Tancock, Muniesa, Reach, Miquel, Verre, Torro, Olinga, Martin, L.Williams (Subs: Loveridge, Wyke, L.Williams)
Southend: Yirango, Omeruo, Ake, Bagnack, Kinsombi, Chalobah (c), Torres, Baker, Rabello, Origi, Castillo (Subs: Bumba, Loftus-Cheek, Pacheco)

First half:

A nightmare start at Broadfield Stadium, as LSTD's young chargers came flying out of the blocks against Di's hosts. Barely 30 seconds showed on the clock when Chalobah, the Southend skipper, threaded a low ball across the skiddy surface into the feet of Castillo, who's first touch took him inside Tancock onto his right foot, and the Chile U20 international whipped the ball into the roof of the net, beyond the flat footed Shea. Literally no backlift in the shot, but it rocketted past the keeper and was still rising at it hit the net. Absolutely top class finish from the forward.

However, the goal seemed to have a rousing affect on Di's team, who seemed happy to soak up pressure before launching their own attacks. Chalobah continued to pull the strings in midfield, but his opposite number, Ignasi Miquel, was equal to everything, cutting out through balls and reading play superbly. With 17 minutes on the clock, Crawley drew level. Torro was quick to shut down Torres, forcing him to play a loose ball which Williams pounced on. The former Boro youngster got to the byline before pulling a cross back into the path of the onrushing Torro, who cleverly stepped over the ball, wrong footing Ake, and allowing Verre time and space from 10 yards out to pick his spot in the bottom corner away to Yirango's left.

As the half went on, the pattern remained the same. Southend continued to get Chalobah on the ball as much as possible, and he simply and effectively distriubuted the ball around in front of Crawley, who looked disciplined and well drilled. Crawley continued to soak up pressure, whilst breaking clinically at every opportunity. If was from one of these counters that Crawley almost went in ahead. The excellent Verre fed the ball wide to Olinga who attacked Kenneth Omeruo with a direct run. As Omeruo tried to see the ball behind, he slipped, allowing Olinga in behind him. With the Southend back line expecting a cross, the 16 year old showed wisdom beyond his years by trying a cheeky toe poke through the tiniest of gaps at the near post. Luckily for Southend, Yirango was alert to the danger and got down quickly to scoop the ball behind.

Half time:

Crawley1 - Verre (Williams) '17
Southend 1 - Castillo (Chalobah) '1

Second half:

A slower start to the second half, with Crawley having slightly more of the ball, but failing to really get in behind the Southend defence. Ake was winning the arial battle with Martin, who was having difficulty getting into the game, and neither keeper was particular tested as the half struggled to get going.

The first chance of the half fell to Crawley on the hour mark, Torro delivering a corner on to the head of Muniesa, but Yirango was equal to it.

The first substitution of the game came on the 70 minute mark, Ruben Loftus-Cheek replacing the very impressive Chalobah, and before the new lad had time to touch the ball, Southend were behind for the first time. Again, Verre started the move, feeding the ball out to Olinga, and as the Cameroonian fired the ball across the box, the unfortunate Frank Bagnack turned his compatriates cross in to his own net. Very little the centre back could do, such was the pace on the ball, and had he not stuck a leg out to get a touch, Martin would surely have had the easist tap in of his life. Credit must go to Olinga for the quality of the cross.

LSTD continued to roll the dice, with Bumba and Pacheco replacing Torres and Origi respectively as they went in search of an equaliser, but it seemed they were trying to break down a stubborn Crawley side who were about to pick up their first win of the campaign.

That was, however, until deep into stoppage time. Dani Pacheco beat 2 men as he burst in to the box, only to go down under a firm challenge from Muniesa, who's claims that he won the ball fell on deaf ears. Lewis Baker spotted the ball up, but his well struck effort was excellently saved by Shea away to his right. Sadly for the keeper, the ball squirmed out of his grasp, and Pacheco was first to it to lash it back in under the stricken keeper to deny Crawley all 3 points with the final kick of the game.

Crawley 2 - Verre (Williams) '17, Bagnack (og) (Olinga) '71
Southend 2 - Castillo (Chalobah) '1, Pacheco (Baker) '90+3

Man of the Match - Nathanial Chalobah (Southend) Midfield dynamo, controlled the pace of the game by distributing the ball sensibly and maturely. Broke up play when it mattered, and read the game better than anyone else.

......... Nottingham Forest v Cambuur .........

Nottingham Forest Side:
Blanco, Manquillo, Lopez, Insua, Grimaldo, Iniguez, Samper, Toral, Garcia, Vadillo, Mina

Cambuur side:
Ranta, Murru, Del Fabro, Laporte, Stafylidis, Jadson, Campana, Rubio, Ananidze, Carrasco, Ademilson

The Match:
In a game with very few chances the home side put pressure on the away side but couldn’t find a way through that was until the 30th minute. Iniguez pressures Campana for the ball and then passes the ball to Samper who plays the ball to Garcia who then cuts in field and plays a neat through ball for Mina who then shoots the ball over the crossbar. On 40 mins, Jadson gets the ball off Samper and passes the ball to Campana who then passes the ball out wide to Rubio who then rooms down the right wing with pace and puts a lovely through ball into the box for Ademilson who then twist and turns in the box and his shot goes wide of the target.

Half time score:
Nottingham Forest 0-0 Cambuur

In the second half Nottingham Forest are the more livelier of the two teams and Samper gets the ball of Iniguez and passes the ball out wide for Vadillo who then plays a lovely through ball into the box only for Mina to have a shot go wide of the target. On 60 mins yet again Samper plays a neat ball out wide for Garcia this time and he breaks down the right and plays the ball infield and Samper is there in the middle and plays a neat ball through for Mina and yet again Mina has a shot on goal that goes wide. Oh this is cruel on 65 mins Cambuur who have done little throughout the game take a shock lead and Campana plays the ball out wide to Rubio who then crosses a lovely low cross into the box and Ademilson is there to tap the ball into the back of the net. Forest 0-1 Cambuur! Forest then on 75 minutes go in search of an equaliser with Gracia getting the ball off Manquillo and breaking down the right wing and cutting infield and instead of playing the ball into the middle for Mina, the lad decides to have a shot on goal himself but it’s just not happening for Forest in front of goal today. As the final whistle goes a sick looking Leiva looks bewildered as to how his side lost this game today.

Full time result:
Nottingham Forest 0-1 Cambuur
Cambuur scorer: Ademilson (Rubio)
MOTM – Garcia – feel for the lad didn’t deserve to be on the losing side today
