Sick and tired of the Levy bashing

When are some Spurs fans going to stop behaving like spoilt 6 year olds screaming and stamping their feet when they dont get ice cream for dinner

Spurs have no oligarch or 70k stadium to pay for superstars who demand 159k a week wages and 40m transfer fees , we have to live in the real world and pay what we can actually afford ...

TBH think back to where we were when Levy took over MID BLOODY TABLE , yes we'd strike it lucky with the signing of the odd David Ginola but for every one of those there would be 6 Chris Perrys , whether you like it or not you cannot deny that he;s worked his socks off since he arrived and every season we've been a little bit better and been able to compete with teams that had 10 times the resources we have ....We make money in the transfer market then invest in players

How quickly some of you forget that we've had 2 top 4's and a 5th in the last 3 years , somehow we're sitting in 4th despite the money that so many teams have to invest , despite this you still cant wait to knock him at every turn shame on you and I havnt even mentioned the new training ground and the millions spent on the prep for our new home

So instead of slaughtering him you should be on your knees thanking Gpd we've got him otherwise we'd be back to 11th and 12th place as we were before he came

Wake up people and start living in the real world instead of football manager 13 or whatever it's called these days

Weare

You can never rule these things out with Spurs. Arsenal, Chelsea, anyone else yes, but Spurs you can't.

I'm on the beer with a Villa fan tonight. He hasn't been out much lately because their results are making him very poor company (his words not mine). I seem to remember a couple of seasons ago their wage bill was greater than ours and there was very little to choose between the teams. What Levy has and keeps achieving with a 36k capacity and a wage bill thats considerably less than the other top 4 contenders (Everton aside) should be applauded. Levy dissenters should be careful what you wish for!!

The AVB appointment was very much looking ahead to the future. Someone to embrace the New training ground and hopefully, stadium. Therefore I would see it as silly to brand him a failure in his first season if we get 5th. We've made a profit with him in charge I think, didn't get any of his top targets etc. And if anyone says "Oh well if Harry got had fourth then you'd call it a failure" Yes I probably would. Because that would be what, his 5th year at Spurs, and 3rd time in a row we'd fecked it up.

Weare.....................................We have been spoilt in effect by actually punching above our weight over the past 3 years. We know we cannot compete financially & to achieve 5th, 4th & 4th for the last 3 years is some going.

I would love us to get 4th or better again this year, however I will not think it will be failure to finish 5th. Considering we lost Modric, VDV & King for this season, and in some respects not really replaced them yet.

------------

Who said about branding AVB a failure? The season would be a failure not AVB. At least not if AVB goes on to improve in his following seasons, and improve on Harry. That would more than make up for this season being a failure. I'd be more willing to blame Levy should we not make top 4 this season than AVB, but it'll certainly be a set back if we didn't get it, in terms of players we can bring in and stability i.e. players like Bale not wanting to leave.

I think it's silly to say the season wouldn't be a failure with no top 4. Do you think Arsenal fans would see it that way? Why should we be different if we are meant to be competing with them? It comes across as a small club mentality and we shouldn't be emitting that.

Sorry Spurtle it just looked like that was being implied

Not by myself no.

You can't properly judge the man until after about a season, though I'll be having my doubts if we finished like 7th or 8th.

==================

Why after a season? We're 25 games in, we're 1 point off 3rd, 3 away from the team below in 5th, so of course it would now be a failure to finish below the standard 4th spot target from here.

KentSpurt,

I dont think AVB was brought in because of the new training ground, or any other reason than to manage the squad to a 4th placed finish.

We cant write off this season on the basis that he "might" do better next season or the season after - we have to judge on the here & now.

It was a good result yesterday, albeit against a team very much off-form and down to 10 men, especially after Defoe went off (i couldnt see that injury coming, could you? ).

Anyway, onwards & upwards eh?
