Given that we seem to have spent endless days speculating about our next signing, and hoping its a 20 goal a season man, what have our rivals been up to?
Who will our rivals be if we are to be challenging for playoff spots and beyond?
Who have they signed that will strike fear in the heart of opposition players/fans?
Who will we look back on and say, 'Why didn't we sign him!?'
Charlton have signed every man, and his dog, and M Morrison
MK Dons have got themselves a Potter (have they got the team set up to get the best out of him? Or was he at his best for us!? :-o)
And Huddersfield have got a Miller (how many penalties will he score against us?)
Preston have had to sell Lonergan, and replaced him with Iain Turner, coveted by some on here not so long ago. Only given him a 1 year contract so not willing to gamble on his long term fitness it seems.
Rivals?

And we'll still have Weaver well past Van Der Sar's years..
It's ok we're all quality and not quantity right? Charlton may have signed a entire squad but I wonder if the teams still as strong when they change out all their best players like Megson says he's going to with us

I made such a mess of predictions last season in this league that I'm just not confident of predicting anything. I think we're a better starting 11 than at the start of last season, however probably weaker in terms of goals! I'd be confident that we can be top half but all depends on that illusive 20 goal striker that we keep harping on about. As for rivals, well all the demoted teams will be desperate to get back as well as Charlton (though I think they will struggle to gel) Huddersfield and I quite fancy Chesterfield to sneak a top 6 place. Bournemouth, MK dons, Orient and even Exeter will all fancy there chances of sneaking into the top 6 . To be honest I know nothing about these sides and who they have signed. For all I know Yeovil could surprise us all!

Indeed, who had BHA down as run away champs last season?

Does anyone else fear United? So far, at least, they haven't dismantled the side that played in the Championship (having lost only Henderson and Yeates, neither of whom played much) but with Morgan now fit and Slew and Macguire a year older. Wilson knows Effinel Jean-Francois so he should be useful. You have to ask if they will score enough but Ched is still there and there's Chris Porter. He's a bit of a gamble but just because Nigel Clough won't play you it doesn't mean you've become a rubbish striker - just ask Luke Varney. Whether we are a better bet than they are will depend on who eventually wears our 8,9 and 10 shirts.

I predicted Brighton for promotion this time last year along with Southampton & Huddersfield so I was close to a clean sweep. I will make this year's prediction next week.

Sitting on the fence with regards our chances then madsteve?
I'm a little worried that the blunts haven't had the disruption/dismantling of their squad that was predicted. Have they signed anyone? I fear they may be a little better than we think.

Seem to mention the word worried a fair amount of times there.
