I think Sven will have a broad view of what he classes as 'midfield' players, and will include wingers in this bracket. Therefore, with his suggestion of two players for each position, I think he will be looking at having 8 members of the squad in this area.

For me they will be:

Wellens
King
Abe
Danns
Johnson
Fernandes
Oakley
Dyer

Assuming in addition, we sign one or two strikers, I think the following will be released, sold or loaned within the next week, and certainly within the next month:

N’Guessan
Moussa
Moore (if not already on loan?)
Moreno
Waghorn
Kennedy (if not already gone?)
Crncic
Kermogant or Howard

Giving us a squad of 23/24

I reckon Johnson could be real threat to the places of both King and (still more) Abe. Not in the squad, but certainly in the "first" XI.

Well, he's said two per position so I think that would mean:

Schmeichel - Weale

Pantsil - Peltier
Mills - Tunchev
St Ledger - Bamba
Konchesky - Ball

Wellens - Abe
King - Fernandes
Johnson - Danns

Nugent - Vassell
NEW STRIKER - Howard
Gallagher - Townsend/Dyer

Those listed will probably leave, so that's:

N'guessan (Not on tour)
Moreno (Not on tour)
Crncic (Not on tour)
Berner (Being overlooked for the coaches job I think meant he had no future here and he won't settle for 3rd choice)
Oakley - (Unfortunately can't see how he'll get much game time. Would like him to stay as an experienced head in the dressing room. With the 5 subs rule he won't be able to play that role of soldifying us with 10 mins to go.)
Moussa - (Will probably go out on loan again)
Schlupp - (A full season on loan to a low end Champ or high League 1 team would do him good. Another victim of the 5 subs rule.)
Waghorn - (Don't think he'll be happy as 4th choice CF but will only leave IF another striker is signed)
Kermorgant - (Not good enough)
Dyer - (Only if Townsend signs)

Out of those above, I could still see Oakley, Dyer and maybe Moussa staying.

It was Michael Lamey who went to Wisla Krakow. Crncic is still here. I also forgot to add Tom Kennedy to my list of players leaving.
