Up or down?

I have not been on here very much this season because I have not found very much to be positive about ( and still can't) and just hate being negative. At the start of the season many supporters thought quick promotion back to the Premiership was quite likely. There are very few who say that now, in fact an increasing number talk of relegation. My feeling is that neither will happen, though relegation is more likely than promotion. I believe things will improve slightly for us towards the end of the season and it will be a mid table finish.

My last article in late December compared the change of manager at Bolton with the change at Bournemouth, both of which happened at about the same time. Some thought I was comparing the clubs which was not true because they are very different clubs in size. What I was comparing was the very different performance brought about by a change of manager. By October Bournemouth was facing the prospect of relegation to the 2nd Division, having won only one match from the first 11 games. Following the change of manager they have only lost one in 19 league games, are now third in the table and pushing hard for promotion to the Championship. This change around in performance has been achieved with the same squad but a different manager who has been able to organise and motivate the team from his first day in the job. Clearly anything similar has not been achieved at Bolton under DF.

I don't think we will be relegated. One thing I know, we will not be promoted.

We do have to look at our position in the league and admit that we could well find ourselves in a relegation dog fight. We are three points from a relegation place but with a better goal difference. So it isn't out of the question that we could be relegated.

However there is good news on the horizon, we have injured players coming back to fitness and hopefully DF's signings will turn out be be good signings and help us to move up the league.

I'm trying to be positive.

some managers go for the quick fix ,others go for consolidation and build for the future in our case, we could still gain promotion just ,but would possibly come straight back down, so maybe we wait till next season go up with 120points then go for a top 4 place in the prem .then just maybe we will give D.F. some credit

We've a game in hand at home to the bottom side. If we win that we'll be 16th or maybe higher if we win on Saturday and results go our way.

Hopefully we'll end up clicking and go on a run - it'll probabally be far too late for the play offs mind.

Every manager goes to win every game.....

i believe building for the future, or "quick fixing" is to do with signings etc not current results

As the op says, bournemouth have done it with the same team. dougie has had the same team, and simply put...isnt doing it. Whether we give him time is the question, i personally believe we should

I don't, deep down, think that we will go down. I wouldn't be arrogant enough to dismiss it out of hand though. After all we are only 3 points above the relegation places. That'd be like dismissing our chances of reaching the play offs if we were 3 points behind 'Boro in sixth.

Sadly, we're 13 points off the play offs and 19 off an automatic spot, and that's very depressing.

Don't panic; Dougie F said on GMR radio today that " we are NOT in a relegation battle ... " (just what he thinks 20th place and 3 points above a relegation spot actually IS ..... he didn't say ....).
