STRIKERS WHO COULD BE ON MARKET IN SUMMER

It has been suggested that Arsenal will be in market for a new striker in Summer. Which of these do you consider will be available and a realistic
option to buy?

VILLA Barcelona
BENZEMA Real Madrid
FALCAO Athletico Madrid
LOPEZ Athletico Madrid
DZEKO Manchester City
TEVEZ Manchester City
CARROLL Liverpool
LEWANDOWSKI Borussia Dortmund
HUNTELAAR Schalke
JOVETIC Fiorentina
CAVANI Napoli
ANY OTHER

There are three schools of thought.

The first is that we go for a younger striker such as Jovetic or Lopez. Both are not particularly prolific goal scorers. They would probably cost in £15-20 million
range.

The top liners such as Falcao,Benzema and Cavani will cost a lot more both in transfer fees and wages. My
guess is that they are out of reach, because Wenger
will never compete against the likes of Real Madrid,
Paris St Germain,Man City or Chelsea.

The third option is Villa who is still a very good player,
would offer something different to team and more likely
than not will be more affordable in summer, because
of his age, desire to play in England AND Barcelona
still owe us a chunk of money on Song and Fabregas
transfers.

Two more.

Higuain - Real Madrid
Jovetic - Fiorentina

Jovetic already in the list!

I'd would add Michu, depending on how good/bad he does for the rest of the season

AW has already stated that any deal to bring Villa in is dead and will look at other options in the summer.

Understand that we offered £15.5m for him on deadline day and that was final offer.

Michu is an excellent player, but I think that Swansea will be reluctant to sell him unless it is for a very large
transfer fee.

Once a player scores 20+ goals in EPL he is going to
cost £20 million + . Michu has just signed a new contract so there is no pressure to sell cheaply.

Has to be Jovetic, I've said it before, he's the perfect player to play CF in our system. Can create, can score, technically a very good player. Think he'd be about £20-25 million in the summer, which we have the capacity for, don't think he'd command top wages either. Plus he'd be almost guaranteed first team football with us. Not that unrealistic IMO. Would love it to happen.

Y not try and sign Jackson Martinez from Porto who is the nest best thing coming out of Portugal. Better scoring record than Falcao when he was at porto and he is literally built like a beast so could easily take the PL by storm.

My top 3 choices in any order would be,

Martinez, Cavani or Jovetic.

Villa has to be a no go unless its less than 10Million. hes gonna be what 31/32 in the summer hardly the ripe age for strikers.

You also have to note the country in which the striker plays and the type of striker he is.

Now Walcott is on striker money. So Arsene obviously sees his future as a striker. Theo's qualities are finishing and pace.

Therefore someone like Jovetic is a very good option. He comes from a deeper position, like Bergkamp and his goal scoring is not bad when you look at the country he comes from - Italy.

Although Liga is a stronger league than Italy, the style of play is very open and I would be very suspicious of the goal scoring rates from Spain. I am not sure they can be replicated in the premier league where defenders mark very closely and are very physical. Just look at how Theo was kicked all day and he was given no protection, even though he is English.

With Giroud and Theo in the squad I would prefer a no.10 Bergkamp type player who can create/ attack from deeper /dribble and score more than Cazorla.

I accept that it is more difficult to score in Italy. However, the main point is that a striker costing £20 million + will be expected to score goals.

At the moment is goalscoring performance is less than
Walcott and probably similar to Giroud,Podolski and
Cazorla. None of these players cost that amount of money.

Score goals or make goals. Dennis was our transfer record holder for a while. He was never prolific. but he added so much more because he enabled others to score more.

Of course Jovetic will be expected to score goals. But not far more than 15+ premiership goals a season if he can add 15 assists as well.

Cazrola would have cost the same as Mata (£20m+) if the Spanish market hadn't collapsed. Look at Hazard - £30m+.

Bergkamp in his prime did score 20+ goals in a season.

Mata and Hazard were bought by Chelsea. Their spending in transfer market has always been inflated.
You need only to look at how much they spent on Torres!

Wenger is never going to spend huge sums in transfer
market, although I do think that he will raise the bar in
next transfer window to £20 million if right player appears. Whether that is Jovetic is debatable.

The problem at moment is that there are very few players in World Football who are capable of scoring
consistently 20-30 goals a season and they cost a
lot of money.
