CB needed

Looking at the game yesterday and indeed our style of play under BR, one of the priorities this summer surely has to be a ball-playing CB to partner Agger. Carra has been immense these past two games but at 35 we cant be expecting much more from him, although I'd love to see him extend his contract for another year.

Skrtels a good defender, but not a good footballer. Especially with our play it from the back philosophy, we need defenders comfortable on the ball under pressure... Agger fits the bill perfectly, Skrtel doesn't. He looks uneasy on the ball and it affects his defending. I was actually inclined to attribute blame to Skrtel for Agueros goal last night, as he let Aguero in round the back of him far too easily.

Coates looks like he's on his way in the summer, which is unsuprising as he's a defender in the Skrtel mould, more suited to a direct style of play than BRs passing game. We need competition at the back, especially with Aggers less than convincing injury record, and an ageing Carra.

Is Swanseas Ashley Williams the answer? We were linked with a move over January. I'm not convinced though.

Our scouting department needs to be looking for another Daniel Agger in my opinion. Tough assignment.

don't know if he is the answer but shame Samba has priced himself out for playing for a lot of clubs because he is quite solid at the back, but i think he is probably on silly wages.

I personally think Agger needs to up his game. With the ball at his feet he is great but when it comes to aerial combat or man marking he is a liability - yes I just said it

If we could ever get Martin Kelly fit he could do the job. But CB's who are comfortable on the ball are hard to find.

The impression I got from the whole farce was that Skrtel got a shout from Reina to leave the ball. Skrtel is usually quite aggressive and I think he would have attacked the ball under normal circumstances, but he didn't, whereas Reina was very committed to coming for it.

For my money Reina ballsed up, thinking he'd get get the ball.
