He's still top. Only by 1% now, rather than the 7% previously. He's clearly a better manager than Billy - look at what he did at Soton. And he was doing well in the prem, too. Until they inexplicably sacked him. We all saw what Billy did in the prem. We all take the michael out of Rams for being the worst prem team ever - Billy is the worst prem manager ever. And he wasn't that much better in the champ. He blew the promotion chances each time, nobody else. Took us on some abysmal runs either side of the one really good run he took us on.

BD got us to the play-offs twice and took as on great runs home and away......that is a lot more than anyone else had done for a long time. We were also challenging for automatic before everyone else around us strengthened and we didn't. Hart lost in the play-offs but never gets any stick for it. BD over achieved with what he had when with us. We have a better squad now, so I for one would like to see what he could do with it. ND (RIP) admitted it was a mistake sacking him. I don't care what his Prem record is like, let's just concentrate on getting there first.

My impression is that Billy divides opinion. Many people are hot or cold. With Adkins I think people are hot or warm.

Some of your posters, including the esteemed Rev, have intimated that we'd be bricking it if you got BD back. Not so on my part. However if you got Adkins in, you would be dangerous. But would he come, and if so, would the Gagawis scupper the whole shebang with their peculiar style of man mis-management? You'd have to convince Reid that Adkins didn't invent that diet, mind....

Still Hate, Billy was not the worst Premiership manager ever. He was sacked in the November I think, and he masterminded their only win that season. Paul Jewell was the worst manager (at any level) ever. He almost mirrored our unbeaten for the equivalent to a season by taking Derby something like 36 games without a win.

Can people stop saying we have a better squad now than when Billy was here. It's just not true.

Stillhate - other than Gunter, McLeary and Wes (and I guess Shorey/Bertrand for the time they were here), who out of Billy's squad would get in our team now? Earnie was one of his best players and I'm not sure he would get in. With Cox, Sharp, Lansbury and Reid I think we are stronger now, especially if Collins and Ayala could find the form they showed at the start of the season.

I think Chambers would. On that form at least - which I suppose we have to thank Billy for to a degree. McKenna would, if he was still the player he was then. (Which, for this argument he must be, as we're talking about the squad when Billy had it.) Earnie would be there or thereabouts - in those days he was at least as effective as Cox has been in recent days. You have to count Shorey and Bertrand. Ando would probably get in as we don't have any wingers. Camp would be in if we look back to Billy's days again - we certainly had a far better keeper when Billy was in charge than we do today. Kelvin Wilson before it all went Pete Tong. So, half a team maybe.

With BD's reputation for ruffling the feathers of owners and directors, and what we now know about power-crazy Kuwaiti megalomaniacs, does anyone seriously expect Billy to last more than a fortnight before he set the Chairman's robes on fire, sacked his tame goalkeeper and shot his camel?
