Bale Really That Much Better Than Walcott?

Bale is a very good player. But the hype around him ever since that Inter game a year or so ago, is absolutely ridiculous.

I don't use stats to judge players tbh. I don't think it portrays the full picture, though it displays productivity at times.

Either way, what has Bale got going for him apart from pace, and a bit of power?
Height?

Fair enough. He's an impressive athlete, but as a footballer he's nothing special.

His general touch, and technique is pretty average. While his vision, creativity and intelligence is non existent.
He doesn't even really dribble either. He just pushes the ball past full backs and defenders and runs.

To be perfectly blunt, the guy's an overhyped speed merchant.

"Speed merchant" & "Headless Chicken" is traits which Theo Walcott is, at times, unfairly branded.

In recent months though, this guy's improved.

We all (gooners as well) criticize his general play, vision, etc. But if you look at the England game the other day, he was head and shoulders above Welbeck, and a few other guy's when you compare them.

In fact, he impressed me a little.

Yet it's pretty much given that Bale is the superior player. That he may very well be.
But is he really that much better than him?

A large number of people actually rate him as a "world class" player. And would even have him ahead of Sanchez, Di Maria and even Ronaldo (according to one man).

Right now, I wouldn't swap Walcott for Bale.

I agree that he could well go for £50m if Spurs decided to sell him now for whatever reason. As Benny says that's due in part to the media, and him being British also contributes to that.

Still for me, and a lot of others I'm sure, he is the best left winger in the league, I just wish he's stay out there (or rather I don't as an Arsenal fan, as that is where I think he is by far at his most effective).

Nani is the best winger in the PL and top 3 in the world.

Bale has been seriously over-hyped.

OK, he's a decent player but he's a long way short of being the "world class" player he's been labelled.

He has pace, although Walcott is faster.
He scores the occasional goal, but Walcott scores more
He makes the occasional assist, Walcott creates more.

I'm not saying Walcott is a world class player either, but he's closer to that mark than Bale

IMHO both are cracking players. If you ask me I think deep down every other team bar maybe Chelsea and Man City would love to have both in their sides .

I think both offer their respective teams a hell of a lot and I would hazard a guess that both boys read all this crap comparing both of them and have a right old about it.

Top 3 is pushing it. Maybe top 6.
