Brewers Match Predictor League Table (32)

Lots of big news in the Predictor League this week. I will give you the highlights and the league table and then actually comment on the game.

1) Correct predictions of 2-0 from Steve1210 (his second of the season) and Old Brookender (also his second of the season) see them pick up 5 valuable points.

2) Quite a bit of movement in the middle of the league table with places being swapped and it generally bunching up a bit.

3) Don Touched My Boots is in a bit of form - 15 points from the last 6 games. Foxy Freddy made ground on the leading 2 today. Captain Utd still leads the way as he has done for most of the season.

4) The Manager of my team has been sacked. A string of disastrous results gave the board no option. My cats are now in temporary charge until the end of the season.

1) Captain Utd - 78
2) JFWqwerty6 - 72
3) Foxy Freddy - 71
4) Stuart44 - 65
5) Emnez - 64
6) Don Touched My Boots - 63
7) Otep - 63
8) Steve1210 - 57
9) Marco - 55
10) Old Brookender - 55
11) Derby Yellow - 53
12) Terraceman - 50
13) Burton Boy - 47
14) Ady1963 - 44
15) Brewer Dave - 38
16) Frank Ashton - 31
17) BAFC 123 - 13

Long long wait for that second 5 pointer, and to be honest, with all the questions about whether we would have any defenders, it was a bit flippant, but it is a funny old game'

Thought we were very cautious first half hour, seemed to go very deep with Bell AND Weir in front of the back four, relying on breaks.

But once our noses were in front, it was a different story.

Thought the lad was a bit unlucky to get the second yellow. First was a no brainer, but we would have felt hard done to with the second. Maybe, after Zander last week, these things DO balance out?

Brilliant reflex stop by Tommo at 1-0. Great to see Billy bag a brace, though most of his first touches today reminded me of Greg Pearson at his "best"! (Albion legend for sure, but close control was never his forte)

Two that counted so Billy's forgiven and unlucky not to get the MOTM.

Agree that Aaron played well, some really good balls forward, and Stanno immense in the second half. What about that run down the right wing?! O'Connor put in another shift, in fact I think they all showed a 'backs to the wall' mentality that more than compensated for the missing 'first XI'

Some great closing down, putting their back four under pressure. Didn't really see the second red, but not many complaints. Dreadful pen, odd that Mags didn't grab it after two recent successes, but having predicted 2-0, I have to confess to slightly mixed feelings! Old Brookender probably the only other Brewer who will fully understand!!

Walked back to the car surrounded by Rotherham fans who thought they had been robbed by the ref and that we were 'rank'. I think that's what they said!!

As ever, all about opinions, but mine is that we were superb today. Great attitude, more football than hoof ball, and worthy winners.

Got to the game myself yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Rotherham had plenty of finesse knocking the ball about but no bite up front. We had guts and determination and played our football in the right areas. Thought all played well apart from Macdonald who looked a bit lost. Tommo commanded his area brilliantly, was impressed with Symes and Billy was the kee! Defensively very good, don't think Stanno and Holness missed a thing, O'Connor and Webster disciplined,Bell n Weir worked there socks off and i actually thought Maghoma played very well.
We are in the mix and a lot of the remaining games are 6 pointers,it will be interesting ! The players seem up for the battle. We are in with a chance but even if we fail you can see the way Rowett is shaping things for next season.
Steve 1210 them Rotherham fans must have been watching a different game, we were definately not rank and i see fatty Evans is making an official complaint about the referee, i thought the ref was good and picked up the cynical and bullying tactics Evans teams are famous for very well !

Apologies for posting on this thread but could somebody please tell me how on earth you start a new thread. For the life of me I cannot see how to do it.
Thanks.

What an exciting afternoon's football. A game that had everything for me and what a delight to see some excellent football. Evans really is a horrible little man and his bully boy tactics will not win Rotherham anything, he is the weak link at Rotherham who have a fantastic support and new stadium, their Chairman needs to take a long hard look and get rid!!

Mags had one of his games, he doesn't have them every week, but when he does he is almost unstoppable. Defensively we are brilliant, Stanno, Stanno, Stanno what a game. Weir was everywhere and had one of his best games ever and Billy looked dangerous every time he touched the ball. I'm not sold on McDonald or Symes yet. And would have liked to have seen Drury on at half time for McD and Patto on sooner for Symes. All in all though a thoroughly deserved three points.

For me Tommo was my MOTM, simply brilliant.

Fleetwood away and Exter at home now if we can get something from these two games I think people will start to sit up and take notice of this little 'pub team'.

I'll be honest and say when I made my prediction I didn't for one minute think we'd win the game and hoped for the very best a draw.

As the game went on I couldn't believe my eyes. We played the ball on the ground and made some excellent passes. This was a scratch side and we were winning the game, I really had to pinch myself. It showed me what depth we now have in our side.

Well done to all the lads and thank you to all of you who post on this site. I really appreciate it and especially when I can't get to games.

Well done Brewers, great football. I do think Rotherham
will have problems if they keep Evans for there manager. Why move to Rotherham from Crawley a week before promotion? Maybe upset to many people and moved on before being pushed? Maybe Sharps moved to Burton because he did not see eye to eye with fatlad?

Well done GR I am starting to belive we have a team fit for purpose, with 50 points on the table you could more or less say what ever happens for the rest of the season, we are safe for next season.

A great win, third in the table, two red cards for them and an outburst by Fatty Evans. Almost enough to get me over my disappointment at my lads letting slip the chance to go top of League 1.

Keep it coming!
