Probably right, but console yourself with the knowledge that in 77/78 and 2010/11 (our last 2 promotion seasons) we started badly!

We are the worlds worst starters, thats for sure. Although some seasons were darn right ridiculous...but still managed to stay up, some how. O to be a Saint

Don't be daft - it's in our Constitution that we will make every effort not to win the first game of the season!

Is anyone else surprised by the early start to the season? Schools don't break up till the last week in July, we are on hol for the first proper game of the season to our surprise and are now going to miss the home friendly as well. If the players don't go back till 1st July they don't have long to get match fit

Our last opening day win was 1-0 vs Coventry, but it was in 99, not 97. Not exactly much better though...

Anyone remember the 1-4 home defeat against Palace and Alan Bennett's masterclass in defenders who cost nothing?
